This just in from the #DTMBnewsroom! Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate advanced by two-tenths of a percentage point over the month to 4.8 percent during November. Employment fell by 7,000 over the month, while unemployment rose by 9,000, resulting in a workforce gain of 2,000 since October. We recently had employees volunteer at the Gleaners Food Bank Taylor Distribution Center to help families in need in the community. Labor Market Information Division Director Wayne Rourke, along with Michigan Center for Data and Analytics team members Yan Xu, John Dillan, and Dylan Schafer, worked on a conveyor belt packing boxes of food for delivery. At the end of their volunteer shift, the group packed 1,068 boxes! These boxes held 9,612 pounds of food, which will provide 7,689 meals. Amazing job team! 👏 👏 👏
