A major upcoming milestone in the regulatory environment for commercial drones is the release of the draft Part 108 rule. This rule is expected to enable economical BVLOS operations at scale by moving away from the need for waivers and exemptions. One of the last hurdles before the draft rule is released to the public is a final review by the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). As part of this review, OIRA invited comments from industry in a series of calls last week. We provided a statement on behalf of healthcare applications for delivery drones, and urged quick release of this important rule. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gQEQYdrE

In 2012, we conducted one of our first pilot programs in Haiti, testing drone delivery of medications to support communities and camps set up after the 2010 earthquake. This program demonstrated how drones could benefit hard-to-reach areas by improving access to healthcare resources where traditional transportation was challenging due to damaged infrastructure.
