Over the past 2 weeks, I have had more conversations about procrastination, than I have in a while. It is important to remember, there are a lot of reasons for procrastination, but give yourself some grace... If you find yourself procrastinating, acknowledge it... and then decide is that what you want to be doing. I often joke, You say Procrastination - I say Creative Avoidance! Is it the same thing, absolutely, but by calling it creative avoidance helped me find a way to refocus when I am procrastinating. At that moment I stop and think and change directions. Today, I thought what a great day to look at procrastination in a creative avoidance kind of way, do any of these look familiar? 😉 Procrastination – Not Just a Hobby, but a Lifestyle Here, we do not just procrastinate, we elevate it to an art form. If you are reading this, congratulations, you are already practicing by avoiding something else you should be doing! Unless of course, you are reading it as a professional development piece... “I'll Do It Tomorrow" – The Mantra of the Procrastinator Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow? Dive into the philosophy of procrastination. It is not laziness; it is a strategic delay. Tomorrow is a mystical land where 99% of all human productivity, motivation, and achievement is stored. “But First, Let Me Check Social Media" – The Digital Black Hole This is a must-read (later, of course). Explore the digital tools at your disposal to master the art of procrastination. Learn how to fall into a YouTube rabbit hole, get lost in the endless scroll of social media, and the art of starting (and not finishing) online courses. "Working Hard or Hardly Working?" – The Office Olympics How to look busy without actually being busy! Master the art of the long coffee break, the endless loop of checking emails, and the strategic placement of open documents on your screen when the boss walks by. Embracing Your Inner Procrastinator Remember that procrastination is not about doing nothing; it is about doing everything else except what you are supposed to do. Disclaimer: This is intended for humorous and entertainment purposes. In the real world, procrastination is not the best strategy for success. Or is it? You decide... tomorrow.

The holidays are fast approaching, bringing with them a whirlwind of festivities, family time, and... the looming pressure of a new year. It is easy to get swept up in the excitement and let strategic planning for your business fall by the wayside. But what if this year, you took a different approach? It is easy to get caught up in the "shoulds" of life, isn't it? We should be further along in our careers, should have more money saved, should be fitter, happier, more organized... the list goes on. But constantly chasing this idealized version of ourselves can be exhausting and discouraging. It disconnects us from the present moment and the reality of our current situation. That's where the power of "meeting yourself where you are" comes in. It is about acknowledging your current reality: the good, the bad, and the messy, with kindness and acceptance. It is about dropping the pretense and embracing authenticity, even if it means admitting you do not have it all together. Before you dive headfirst into holiday mode, take some time to "meet yourself where you are" and create a strategic plan for 2025. This means taking an honest look at your current business reality, the wins, the challenges, and everything in between. It is about acknowledging your current capacity, resources, and priorities, without judgment. Think of it like this: you would not embark on a road trip without first checking your vehicle, mapping out your route, and packing accordingly. Similarly, a strategic plan acts as your roadmap for the new year, guiding you towards your goals and helping you navigate any unexpected detours.
