One of my biotech clients is looking for a new VP of IT/Executive Director of IT. Please share my contact details if you know of anyone interested. Job Title: VP or Executive Director of IT Location: Prefer Hybrid in SF Start Date: Immediate Length: 3-6 months, possible contract to hire Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Interim IT Leader to guide our IT and security efforts through a transitional phase until a permanent leader is appointed (anticipated February/March 2025). This role offers the potential for transition to full-time, based on performance and business needs. In this role, you'll oversee business and lab systems, manage key IT projects, and ensure our information security standards are met. If you’re a “jack of all trades” with a biotech background and extensive IT leadership experience, we invite you to help shape our team and contribute to high-impact projects across our organization. Key Responsibilities IT Leadership & Strategy: Provide executive oversight for our IT team and vendor relationships. Act as an interim leader, managing in-house team and third-party vendors. Security & Compliance: Lead security audits across software and hardware platforms, with a focus on safeguarding confidential data and ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., Part 11). Collaborate with third-party vendors and manage responses to major security recommendations. Software Project Management: Oversee multiple software upgrade and validation projects O365, SharePoint, spam filtering, and cloud systems; manage software security settings and provide infrastructure guidance. Engage with cross-functional teams to understand and secure validated systems and software. Cloud & Database Administration: Facilitate the transition to a cloud domain environment, with particular emphasis on Azure AD and virtual environments. Identify issues with AWS, Azure servers, and VMware as needed, leveraging third-party support when required. Qualifications Experience: 10+ years in IT leadership roles, preferably as an Executive Director or VP in a smaller biotech or similar industry setting. Proven experience managing IT security, software, and infrastructure teams in biotech, including collaboration with third-party vendors. Technical Skills: Software Knowledge: O365, SharePoint, Lab systems, and other core business platforms. Security & Compliance: Familiar with security audits, compliance protocols (e.g., Part 11), and collaboration with third-party security vendors. Cloud Platforms: Proficient in Azure, knowledge of Azure AD, AWS, and VMware environments. Database Management: MS DBA skills preferred, but not required. Cultural Fit: Strong alignment with our patient-first, speak-up culture. Able to engage effectively with leadership across departments and foster a positive, patient-focused environment. Other Details Commitment: Part-time or full-time hours Start Date: Immediate.
