Revenue per employee(RPE) is an overlooked metric that reveals a company's operational efficiency and profitability. Here are a few things that this metric can help identify ⚙️ Efficiency RPE helps gauge how effectively employees are utilizing their time and resources to generate revenue. A higher RPE indicates greater productivity and better utilization of labor. 💰 Cost Control RPE helps assess the cost-effectiveness of labor. A lower RPE might signal inefficiencies or excessive labor costs. 📈 Investment Prioritization RPE can guide decisions about investments in technology, training, or new hires. If RPE is low, it may signal a need for increased investment in employee development or automation. 👥 Staffing Levels RPE can inform decisions about optimal staffing levels, helping to avoid both understaffing and overstaffing. RPE is a valuable tool for manufacturing companies to assess their workforce's effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and make informed strategic decisions to drive growth and profitability. Ready to unlock the full potential of your manufacturing workforce? Let's connect & discuss the many options how to improve your company's RPE. #Manufacturing #FinancialPerformance #Revenue #SmallBusiness

Motivation vs Habit Series (1 of 3) - The Dopamine Motivator! How many times do you rely on dopamine to hit an achievement? It is wildly accepted that dopamine plays a critical role in motivation for a reward. However, what the brain lacks is the ability to account for the effort and match that to dopamine release. You get it all at once in a big rush. This however will fade over time and once again require a new motivator to release another rush. A common challenge is that over time the input required to receive a dopamine rush increases. With each passing day, week, and month the increase becomes harder and harder to overcome ultimately leading to an impassable obstacle. Case and point, why more than 70% of people give up on their goal in the first 90 days. Dopamine and its role in reaching objectives can be a very useful tactic however be aware of its short life span and increasing price over time. Motivation is great to rally around for short intervals but will almost certainly disappoint if relied on long term. Our challenge to you.... Over the next day count the number of times you need to mustard up the motivation (dopamine) to get a task complete. Is that number higher or lower than you expected. Comment down below.
Do you agree… Designing and building part 1 is easy, while producing thousands at exceptional quality is hard. The manufacturing process is a beast, if you don’t have respect for it your bound to get bit. Design and manufacturing should work hand in hand to ensure that the product meets its desired performance and not at the cost of building it… yes pun intended. How do you ensure your product is manfacturable?
March Manufacturing PMI scores are raising some eyebrows after a flop to start the year… let’s review 1. The overall economy continued with expansion for the 47th month after one month of contraction in April 2020. 2. US manufacturing sector is seeing expansion indicators for the first time in 17 months 3. Employment has contracted for the last 6 months but is showing strong signs of slowing 4. Prices of raw materials increased after 8 months of consecutive decreases So what are all these numbers telling us. 1. The blood bath of layoffs and hiring freezes continues but early signs of slowing are beginning to appear 2. Demand is showing early signs of a recovery heading into the start of Q2 and as we near the summer months 3. Supply chain issues remain minimal, even after another container ship misstep In short there is strong optimism for Q2 onward with all eyes on April to confirm a true shift or just a rare month of above average performance. Those that are looking internally to ensure a smooth running operation will be in the best position to capitalize and strike when the iron is hot. Will you follow Manufacturing Media?
