Last month, MacDonald Illig had the opportunity to host tables at the Erie County Bar Association's Community Law Day and The Nonprofit Partnership's Keystone Nonprofit Conference, two events dedicated to education, connection, and service. ⚖ Community Law Day brought invaluable resources to the public with free presentations by attorneys on crucial topics like divorce and custody, housing and eviction, immigration, elder law, disability rights, criminal law, and more. 🤝 Keystone Nonprofit Conference was a dynamic gathering of nonprofit professionals, offering a wealth of learning and networking opportunities for leadership and program staff alike. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tables to connect! We're committed to supporting our community and the nonprofit sector, and we look forward to more opportunities to engage. #FlashbackFriday #CommunitySupport

🎉 Community Spotlight 🎉 The Sarah A. Reed Children's Center is a center that specializes in mental and behavioral health care for children, teens, families and individuals. They specialize in trauma-informed care by providing innovative evidence-based treatment and services through research, clinical practice and professional training. They serve a diverse population of over 1,700 people from 48 counties annually in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. We’re proud to support the Sarah Reed Children's Center and appreciate all that you do for our community!
All of us at Sarah Reed are beyond grateful to MacDonald Illig Jones & Britton LLP for their incredible $15,000 contribution through the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program! This gift along with all donations we receive through the EITC program are used for our approved Summer Reading & Math Program at our Residential Campus, which enables the children and teens to continue improving their reading and math skills during the summer months. They also enjoy a variety of STEAM activities to make learning fun! The EITC program awards tax credits to pre-approved businesses & corporations, which can then be donated to approved programs and charities. If your company is interested in making a gift through the EITC program, please contact Gary Bukowski in our Development Office at (814) 835-7602 or via email at [email protected]. To our friends at MIJB LLP - thank you for continuing to invest in our children’s future and making a lasting impact on their lives! www.sarahreed.org

❓ How do I form a nonprofit corporation in Pennsylvania? ✔️ 1. Initial Steps: Define your mission, recruit directors, choose a name, and appoint a registered agent with a PA street address. 2. Incorporation: File Articles of Incorporation and a New Entity Docketing Statement with the PA Department of State. 3. Advertising: Advertise your intent or filing of incorporation in two newspapers, including one legal journal. 4. Bylaws: Prepare bylaws detailing nonprofit operations, director elections, and member rights. 5. Organizational Meeting: The board should adopt initial resolutions, appoint officers, adopt bylaws, and document board actions in minutes. 6. EIN: Obtain a Tax ID from the IRS to set up a bank account and manage transactions. 7. Charitable Registration: Register with PA’s Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations if your nonprofit plans to fundraise.
