Louisiana APEX Accelerator Linking Business and Government The Louisiana APEX Accelerator provides specialized and professional procurement technical assistance to Louisiana businesses who are actively seeking and/or performing on contracts and subcontracts with the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal, state and local governments. Our work with both small and large businesses gives the LA APEX the opportunity to make a difference in the economy of Louisiana. Being able to work one on one with the companies, to assist them in marketing to government agencies, preparing proposals, and resolving problems/issues that arise in contracting process, keeps our counselors energized and excited. As a result of assistance provided by the Louisiana APEX Accelerator, our clients have received more than $8.6 billion in government contract awards since LA APEX Accelerator was founded.

On October 23, 2024, Colleen Broussard-Perry attended and provided a presentation for Procurement Workshop entitled Small Business Matters conducted by LSBDC at Propeller, New Orleans. The LA APEX presentation was center around “How to Position your Company to do Business with the Government”, this workshop was both a Live and Virtual Workshop with 18 in person attendees and 62 virtual attendees for a total of 80 businesses. The LA APEX presentation included a discussion on Federal Defense Production Act Title III (DPA III) Program, Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program, Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Programs, FOCI (Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 & FINCEN. Peggy Sammons was one of several local economic resource partners participating in the Accelerate Northside Resource Fair in Lafayette, Louisiana on October 24th. On October 29th, Peggy Sammons participated in the Southwest Louisiana Alliance new member Chamber meeting. This monthly meeting brings together local new chamber businesses to network and learn more about local economic resources. Peggy was asked to present on the commitment that LA APEX has to supporting businesses across Louisiana by outlining the APEX mission, function, assistance and resources offered by LA APEX. Jennifer Richard and Cindy Carrier recently attended the National APEX Conference in Washington, DC, from October 28 through October 31. The event provided valuable insights into the complexities of government contracting, particularly for small businesses navigating the competitive landscape. With a wide range of expert-led training sessions, the conference offered actionable strategies on everything from leveraging certifications for growth to understanding the latest cybersecurity regulations. In addition to attending the Fall NAPEX Conference, Mrs. Carrier actively participated in NAPEX leadership board meetings and hosted a Region 8 meeting, which brought together Program Managers and Counselors from Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
