We are seeking a highly motivated, and forward thinking, medical leader for the position of Region One Medical Director for the Louisiana Department of Health/Office of Public Health. Region One is comprised of Orleans Parish (New Orleans), Jefferson Parish, St. Bernard Parish and Plaquemines Parish. Parishes in Louisiana are equivalent to counties in other states. There are 9 Regions in the state of Louisiana. The candidate must have exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated record of consensus building in a community of similar demographics. Emergency Preparedness and Mass Event Medicine are a large part of the role of the RMD for Region One, as is working with local, regional and state entities to implement public health initiatives aimed at creating a safer, healthier and equitable provision of medical care in the state of Louisiana. Competitive candidates will have a degree in Public Health and/or the equivalent experience of at least three years in a Public Health/Public Safety or medical specialty that serves vulnerable and diverse populations.
