When Marc Lockard & Charlie White started L&W in 1984, they envisioned a firm built on a reputation of reliability, consistency and experience. And a culture that attracted the best talent and made them want to create an even better company. 40 years later, we still work hard every day to live up to Marc & Charlie’s vision, and we thank all of you for having a large part in supporting us. We look forward to the next 40 years!

The winter season is upon us, and that brings additional challenges to the folks that operate and maintain the power grid. Dedicated Land Mobile Radio networks serve as a reliable means to dispatch and control crews in the worst conditions. Ice can down power infrastructure, peak demand projections fluctuate rapidly, fuel supply can be at risk and weatherization is always a concern. To stay on top of changing conditions and respond quickly, mission critical voice systems become a key component in real-time maintenance. L&W has decades of experience in planning, designing and deploying these networks for some of the nations’ largest utilities. Identifying the right solution based on the customer’s needs, handling the RFP sourcing effort to ensure the team gets the best price, and managing the implementation through to a successful deployment. It’s all part of L&W’s proven methodology. Is your network ready for an upgrade? Visit us at www.landw.com/services to learn more.

The 900MHz band looks to stay busy in the coming year. Utilities are very familiar with Anterix’s offering, as several are actively deploying Private LTE networks in the band, and many others are beginning to explore the technology. NextNav, a geolocation company has submitted a proposal to the FCC for reconfiguration of its holdings in the band to allow for the creation of an alternative to GPS. The proposal has been met with opposition from incumbents, namely critical infrastructure users that heavily leverage the 900MHz band for various operational applications.
