On Thursday, OpenAI announced its boldest move yet against Big Tech giants: SearchGPT, a revolutionary search engine infused with AI from the ground up. SearchGPT combines OpenAI's cutting-edge AI technology with real-time web information, allowing users to search just like they chat with ChatGPT. Currently in early testing for a select group, OpenAI plans to integrate these tools into ChatGPT soon. With SearchGPT, OpenAI is set to challenge Google's long-standing dominance in online search. Google has been racing to keep up since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022. This new tool also poses a threat to Microsoft's Bing, which incorporated OpenAI's tech last year to better compete with Google. Users can ask questions in natural language and receive up-to-date answers with links to clear and relevant sources. Unlike ChatGPT, which relies on older data, SearchGPT provides real-time information. For example, a demo showed SearchGPT answering a query about the best tomatoes to grow in Minnesota with detailed info and links to gardening sites. SearchGPT features a sidebar with additional relevant links, similar to Google's search results. OpenAI believes this will make finding information faster and easier by enhancing conversational capabilities with real-time web data. OpenAI has partnered with publishers to build SearchGPT, giving them options to manage their appearance in search results. This collaboration aims to address concerns about web traffic cannibalization. Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold6, and several other Galaxy products, including the Galaxy Buds3 series, at their second Unpacked event of the year. However, sales of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro have been temporarily halted due to quality control issues. Reported Quality Issues: - Earbud joints not sitting flush - Blue dye marks on earbuds - Loose case hinges - Scuffs or scratches on the case lid - Earbuds not sitting properly inside the case A Reddit user reported receiving an email from Samsung to stop sales of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro. The Korean Samsung community forum has also been filled with similar complaints. The official Samsung website has delayed the sales of Galaxy Buds3 Pro from July 24 to August 28. Additionally, Best Buy and Amazon have halted pre-orders and listings of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro in the US and other markets. Samsung has issued an apology and is offering exchanges or refunds for affected products. The regular Galaxy Buds3 are still available for pre-order with a launch date of July 24. Businesses worldwide are reporting significant IT disruptions, including the notorious "blue screen of death" on Windows computers. The cause? A defect in a CrowdStrike security software update impacting Windows hosts. Airlines and airports are experiencing major issues with check-in and ticketing systems, causing flight delays and chaos globally. The London Stock Exchange has experienced disruptions. NHS clinical systems in the U.K. are affected, impacting medical records and appointment scheduling. Some 911 and non-emergency call centers in the U.S., including Alaska, have reported issues. Sky News and several Indian news channels are facing broadcasting problems, and New Zealand banking services are also impacted. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz confirmed the issue, ruled out a cyberattack, and stated that a fix is being deployed. Mac and Linux systems are not affected. Microsoft 365 for Consumers is back up, but enterprise apps still face disruptions. Microsoft acknowledged the problem stems from a third-party software update. Before CrowdStrike's acknowledgment, businesses and experts were quick to point fingers at the company. YouTube is gearing up to introduce new options for its YouTube Premium subscriptions. The company plans to expand existing offers to more regions and roll out new plans, with future possibilities including the ability to share benefits with friends.
