Kotlin Foundation Establishes New Committees and Welcomes New Members! 🎉 As 2024 comes to a close, we look ahead to 2025 with ambitious plans. To meet these goals, we’ve expanded foundation committees. We welcome outstanding individuals from Uber, Gradle, Kotzilla, Google, and JetBrains. Joining the Educational Committee is: 🔹Shauvik Roy Choudhary With over 16 years of experience in AI/ML and developer tools space, Shauvik is passionate about teaching and learning new programming technologies. He leads the Programming Systems group at Uber that applies ideas from programming languages, systems and AI research to improve quality, reliability and developer productivity. The Ecosystem Committee plays a vital role in driving the growth of the Kotlin ecosystem, and it has become stronger with new members: 🔹Maxime Bentin With 10 years of experience in the mobile industry, Maxime brings his perspective on creating applications for Apple devices. He recently joined Kotzilla, focusing on improving the developer experience. 🔹Oleg Nenashev A community builder, dev tools innovator, and DevRel consultant, Oleg is a developer advocate for the Gradle Build Tool at Gradle Inc. He’s also a Jenkins maintainer, CNCF/CDF Ambassador, Testcontainers Champion, and an active FOSS contributor. Oleg believes in Kotlin idiomatic/DSL capabilities and looks forward to expanding the tooling ecosystem around it. 🔹Ty Smith As a Principal Engineer at Uber, Ty focuses on Mobile, Developer Productivity & Relations, AI, and Open Source. He co-chairs the Mobile Native Foundation, is a Google Developer Expert in Kotlin and Android, and is active as a startup advisor, speaker, and conference organizer. To elevate the Foundation’s visibility, foster community engagement, and amplify its initiatives, we’ve established the Marketing Committee with the following experts: 🔹Alina D. Alina is a Product Marketing Manager at JetBrains, blending her love for technology with extensive experience in community building. She is passionate about showcasing Kotlin’s impact and promoting the Foundation’s contributions. 🔹 Eugene Toporov As Head of Marketing at JetBrains, Eugene is dedicated to crafting stories that connect developers with Kotlin, aiming to make software development more enjoyable by promoting Kotlin as a go-to language. 🔹 Matt Dyor Product Manager for Android, focused on Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform, Matt brings deep expertise to the Marketing Committee. 🔹 Olwethu Pissot Olwethu is the Marketing Lead at Kotzilla, where she drives visibility and engagement for Koin, the Kotlin dependency injection framework and the new Kotzilla Platform, a debugging tool for Koin users. Her extensive experience bridges technical marketing, communications, and community. We are thrilled to announce that Kotzilla has joined the Kotlin Foundation as a Silver member. The Kotzilla team has put significant effort into the advancement of Kotlin, especially with the creation of Koin, an open-source dependency injection framework. Currently, Koin is used in over 350,000 mobile applications worldwide and has more than 9 million downloads each month.
