A recent lesson from my son made me rethink the way we approach business and life. As we sketched out a "strategic plan" for building a treehouse, he was buzzing with excitement about all the steps and details—everything we were going to do together to make it a reality. I turned to him and said, "It's going to be amazing when it's finished. You'll be so happy." But he replied with something that stopped me in my tracks: "I don’t really care about it being done, Mom. I’m having a great time just building it." It hit me—how often do we focus only on the destination? In our businesses, coaching programs, or projects, we get wrapped up in the finish line, expecting that our satisfaction will come when everything is perfect. But my son's words reminded me of something crucial: it’s not about the outcome—it’s about enjoying the process of building our own version of the treehouse.
