⏮️Let us rewind to six weeks ago today when we discussed the following question about #ScienceDiplomacy...:🤓 ❓Is it just the latest buzzword for what we have been doing all along? Or can it energize and advance international cooperation and build bridges where gaps seem unbridgeable, strengthening the alliance of researchers and policy makers against rising science-skepticism? Maybe now more needed then ever?⚖️ 💬The German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York's #FutureForum 2024 in Washington, D.C. explored the role of "Science Diplomacy in an Era of Technological Disruption". ⚡ ❤️ It was my pleasure to moderate on behalf of the University of Cologne the panel discussion on actors, institutions, and networks featuring: 🔊 - Ona Ambrozaite, Co-Director at The Johns Hopkins University's Science Diplomacy Hub and Co-Founder of the Women in Science Diplomacy Association (WiSDA) - E William (Bill) Colglazier, Senior Scholar and Editor-in-Chief at Science & Diplomacy, AAAS, and a practitioner in SD since the 1980s - Derya Büyüktanır Karacan, Professor at The George Washington University, lecturer in SD including the role of women, and Regional Coordinator of EURAXESS North America - Christian E. Rieck, Associate Professor of War Studies at the University of Potsdam, and - Marcus Weller, Chief Scientific Officer at AIONIC Machine Learning, AI Adviser at ATARC (Advanced Technology Academic Research Center) and Head of Technology at Pinnacle Minds. 💥If you missed the discussion or want to refresh your memory you can now watch the #recording online! Find the link in the comment section.🎥 🙏 Thank you to all the speakers and participants for the engaging discussion, to the DWIH-team for organizing, and to Ona and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center for hosting! 🔥 📸 Photos in part by Sebastian Marin #InternationalAffairs #Research #InternationalRelations #Diplomacy Jan Lüdert, Ph.D. Saskia Ibrom Julia Helmes Embassy of Germany in Washington, D.C.
