This week, Under Secretary Lago traveled to the Philippines and Indonesia to lead a trade mission delegation of U.S. business leaders as part of the Innovative Technologies for Urban Infrastructure Development Mission. In the Philippines, Under Secretary Lago promoted partnerships to support the country’s rapid urbanization and infrastructure goals through bilateral meetings with senior Philippines officials. She also participated in several roundtable discussions with key stakeholders, including women entrepreneurs, government and trade mission delegates, and Philippine labor representatives, to discuss shared goals and policy priorities.   In Indonesia, Under Secretary Lago reinforced the U.S. commitment to a robust bilateral relationship with Indonesian senior officials representing digital infrastructure, healthcare, and energy. Under Secretary Lago and the trade mission delegation toured Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to supporting Indonesia’s sustainable urban development efforts. This past week, Deputy Assistant Secretary Evans represented the International Trade Administration at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and underscored the U.S. Department of Commerce’s commitment to advance clean economies, promote public-private partnerships, and accelerate innovations to achieve climate objectives.   Through panels and roundtable discussions, Deputy Assistant Secretary Evans highlighted the U.S. government resources available for U.S. companies to deploy global climate projects and how U.S. innovation can play a critical role in supporting global partners to achieve their climate action goals.
