On Thursday, October 24, Intealth’s Porsha Trisdorfer, MFA and Julie Drendall, MSS, MLSP participated in an event hosted by Bryn Mawr College’s Impact Center for Community, Equity, and Understanding that focused on equity and inclusion in the workplace. The COVID-19 pandemic had significant impacts on the well-being of residents and fellows in graduate medical education (GME) programs, exposing them to increased stress and burnout. To address this, institutions introduced well-being interventions, but how effective were they? Intealth Senior Vice President and FAIMER Executive Director, Lyuba Konopasek, MD, co-authored an article recently published in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education that examined 18 studies on interventions used to support medical trainees in GME programs during the pandemic. Intealth is pleased to announce that implementation of its Recognized Accreditation Policy has begun by reporting which schools meet the requirements of the policy. This reporting provides valuable information for current and future medical students, medical regulatory authorities, and others around the world. It also serves as an additional data point for U.S. program directors on the educational background of international medical students and graduates (IMGs) applying to U.S. graduate medical education. Implementation of the policy does not impact an individual’s eligibility for ECFMG Certification. IMGs can continue to apply for and pursue ECFMG Certification, even if their medical school currently does not meet the requirements of the Recognized Accreditation Policy.
