Yesterday, INCOMPAS, filed comments with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in response to their request for comments on bolstering data center growth, resilience, and security. INCOMPAS is in a unique position of representing members that build out broadband and digital infrastructure to service data centers, as well as companies that offer managed cloud communications services, and operate data centers of many categories. Other members include technology companies, both large and small, that are industry leaders in the development and integration of artificial intelligence technologies and products, which are driving the need for stronger, more efficient infrastructure and larger data center capacity. “As individuals and industries continue to create and deploy AI applications and new learning models, data centers play an integral role in the technology ecosystem,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering.

Yesterday, INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering had the pleasure of moderating a panel at #BBCSummitWest on broadband. Read more below on the panel's discussion of #ACP and the need for the program to still exist. ⬇
Broadband is one of the last remaining, truly bipartisan issues, according to Chip Pickering, the CEO of INCOMPAS. Pickering was joined by executives like Brian Worthen, the CEO of Visionary Broadband, and Dane Jasper, the executive director and co-founder of Sonic, at #BBCSummitWest in San Diego. The group discussed what went wrong with the #ACP and how it could be improved upon. “Anytime you roll out a program, it can’t have a sunset,” Worthen said. “If it has a big runway, people will build networks around it.”

Cloud Communications Alliance #CCA, INCOMPAS File Joint Comments to the #FCC’s NPRM on Adopting Protections for Consumers Related to the Use of AI in Robocalls and Robotexts The Cloud Communications Alliance (CCA) and INCOMPAS the internet and competitive networks association, filed joint comments in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing to adopt protections for consumers related to the use of artificial intelligence in robocalls and seeking comment on positive uses of developing technologies that can alert consumers to unwanted or illegal calls and texts, including AI-generated calls. “Our members are committed to mitigating the threat of illegal robocalls and robotexts to their customers while working with the Commission to concurrently identify ways to preserve consumer trust in voice and messaging services while promoting policies that encourage competition, innovation and economic development. Together, our members will be leaders in employing #AI technologies to enhance the customer’s voice service experience and protect residential and business customers from fraudulent robocalls and robotexts. While the Commission must play an important role in ensuring that AI technologies are developed and deployed with the safeguards necessary to protect consumers and competition, the agency’s approach must take into account the noted benefits that the current flexible approach has allowed, including our members’ development of innovative call detection and alerting solutions that consumers and providers alike will use to expose fraudulent robocalls or robotexts,” said the associations.

#ICYMI: Yesterday, INCOMPAS released a statement of support in response to Chairman Tom Cole's letter to the Federal Communications Commission urging that they adopt final rules authorizing high-powered two-way fixed broadband service in the 12.2 - 12.7 GHz band. “On behalf of the 5G for 12 GHz Coalition, I commend Chairman Cole for his leadership in urging the FCC to bring fixed broadband service to the 12.2 - 12.7 GHz band. Our nation is at a pivotal moment in its work to connect every community, and the Congressman sees a clear opportunity to use this mid-band spectrum to bridge the digital divide, including in tribal areas in Oklahoma. We encourage the FCC to build on this momentum and act soon so we can continue delivering on the promise of Internet for all,” said Chip Pickering.
