📰inCitu is profiled in a new report out of Jacobs Institute by Greg Lindsay. the Augmented City soeaks to city leaders as location based AR becomes a common sight in cities: ⚠️"Cities must prepare proactively for AR's arrival, learning from past experiences with disruptive technologies like Uber and Airbnb" 💡If your city is looking for real case studies of civic AR in action, bringing public data to the streets, look no further than our blog, linked in the comments or book a meeting at hello@incitu.us
I didn't want to talk your collective ear off about this until after the holidays, but "The Augmented City" — my capstone report for the Urban Tech Hub at Cornell Tech's Jacobs Institute — has arrived! The New Urban Order's Diana Lind is first out of the gate with a podcast and interview with me about the urban implications of AR (and AI) at scale. https://lnkd.in/enjdCBgv Key takeaways from our conversation: 🔮 2025 could be a watershed year for AR adoption in urban environments 🎨 Some exciting current uses of AR in cities include the Kinfolk Foundation's creation of digital monuments honoring unjustly obscured Black historical figures, and inCitu's visualization tools helping residents preview upcoming developments ⚠️ We need to think critically about how AR will reshape urban life - it's not just about tech, but about equity, access, and public space 🏙️ Cities must prepare proactively for AR's arrival, learning from past experiences with disruptive technologies like Uber and Airbnb 🤝 The full report offers concrete recommendations for city leaders on managing this transition thoughtfully I'll have more — much more! — to share in the new year, but for now please listen or read our full conversation and download "The Augmented City" for a deeper dive into what's coming. https://lnkd.in/eRiTe6Fv #XR #AR #AugmentedReality #AugmentedReality #UrbanTech #FutureOfCities

It's official: New York is now the City of YES! 🏙️ By passing the most pro-housing zoning proposal in its history, NYC is set to create 80,000 new homes over the next 15 years. Big numbers can be intimidating for residents, but making the unknown known can bring reassurance and even excitement that changes will be for the better. Many of the new homes will likely be small, multifamily units that fit snugly into existing neighborhoods. The so-called “missing middle” housing typology - these aren't towering skyscrapers, but rather the cozy middle ground between single-family homes and large apartment complexes. The City of Yes invites us to reimagine our streetscapes and envision the future from our very own corner. Getting out and actually showing residents how new housing can seamlessly blend into - and even enhance - their neighborhoods, is key to bringing the whole city on board this important and ambitious initiative. Housing is an asset for all of us and the City of Yes will lay the foundation for a more affordable, vibrant city for all. At inCitu, making the unknown known is our mission. inCituAR transforms complex planning and zoning data into intuitive, easy-to-grasp mobile AR experiences. Imagine seeing new projects as if they were already built, and experiencing change before it happens, right from your phone’s camera. We've just added a new multifamily sample model to our library. Curious how your neighborhood might grow? Give it a try! Our smart QR-to-AR tech means no app downloads - just point, tap, and see! Let's embrace this change together and build a more inclusive NYC. After all, great urban planning is a team sport, and everyone's invited to play. #CityOfYes #NYCHousing #UrbanPlanning #AugmentedReality #inCituAR

Check out our founder Dana Chermesh-Reshef on the latest SPACES podcast!
In the episode of SPACES, I speak with Dana Chermesh-Reshef, an architect-turned-urban data scientist and founder of inCitu, a startup on the mission to democratize city planning through augmented reality (AR). Drawing from her incredibly unique experiences in the Israeli Air Force, training F-15 pilots on a flight simulator, and as an architect at the NYC Department of City Planning, Dana’s groundbreaking work uses AR technology to make city planning more transparent and accessible, bridging the gap between technical designs and public understanding. In this conversation, we discuss the innovative use of AR in city planning. The discussion covers the importance of effective communication in urban development, the user experience of AR technology, and the capabilities of inCitu’s creator platform that allows users to overlay projects in their real-world context. Dana also emphasizes the need for transparency and community engagement in planning processes, highlighting successful case studies and the future potential of AR in various sectors. Link in comments
