🔖 Check out the Editorial “Real impact: Challenges and opportunities in bridging the gap between research and practice” in the International Journal of Information Management! This piece highlights how academia often prioritizes theoretical contributions and complex methodologies, while practitioners seek actionable, immediate solutions. The authors propose the 4D Model (Design, Deliver, Disseminate, Demonstrate) as a structured framework to align academic endeavors with practical impact, emphasizing collaboration, co-created knowledge, and inclusive communication. This approach aims to overcome barriers such as jargon-heavy language, lengthy publication timelines, and misaligned priorities by fostering partnerships between researchers and practitioners. What does it mean to be an impact scholar? How does it differ from, or align with, being a “traditional” researcher? Having a positive impact beyond academia is often framed as a requirement to secure funding or recognition. However, for some of us, it’s a core orientation—a belief that research should drive meaningful social change. In this The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) blogspot, John Wilcox (Columbia University) and Brandon Reynante (Stanford University, Haas Center For Public Service), reflect on the essence of social impact scholarship: how it shapes our research agendas, metrics for success, and collaborations. They also emphasize that being an impact scholar doesn’t mean sacrificing rigor or undervaluing traditional scholarship. What other differences do you find in your work as an impact scholar? https://lnkd.in/deyfpXXV

🌟 Winners of the IVEY/ARCS PhD Sustainability Academy ISC Impact Award 🌟 We are thrilled to announce the winners of the IVEY/ARCS PhD Sustainability Academy ISC Impact Award for this year. The award recognizes doctoral and postdoctoral research that excels in transforming knowledge, generating practical insights, and fostering actionable change in the field of sustainability. This year's recipients Niki Khorasani, Ph.D. (University of Alberta) and Ariel de Fauconberg (Cambridge Judge Business School) have demonstrated exceptional contributions across four key areas: transformative research that shifts understanding from the individual to the systemic, generative approaches that explore new methodologies and contexts, reflective scholarship that engages with the researcher’s own positionality in the field, and agentic findings that orient future action towards sustainability solutions. These two scholars exemplify the innovation and impact that the award seeks to celebrate and encourage in the field of sustainability. We would like to express our gratitude to Oana Branzei (Ivey Business School at Western University) for her invaluable support and encouragement in establishing this award together with the Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS).
