Building my one-person business to $10M in revenue and sharing everything I learn along the way.

I escaped the rat race 5.5 years ago. And I no longer play status games. I don't: • want to change the world. • want to build the next unicorn. • want to be featured on any lists. • want to get the highest valuation. Here's what I want: • I want to spend my time with my wife. • I want to work on interesting projects. • I want to travel whenever I want to. • I want to see my friends frequently. • I want to stop doing things I hate. Thinking about what you actually want in life can force different behavior. Take you down a different path towards living more intentionally. Are you copying someone else's life? Or designing your own? --- Want to learn how I create content that's seen 83.7M times per year on LinkedIn? I reviewed 20 service-based business offers - here’s what the best ones got right. The best offers are focused, simple, and clear. They usually have: 1️⃣ A crystal-clear problem they solve Their offers weren’t about everything under the sun. They targeted a specific pain point and had clearly done their research to know what the challenges were AND how customers spoke about it. They used ‘real world’ language that resonated. 2️⃣ A strong transformation statement Rather than listing features and perks, they emphasise the outcome and 'so what" their clients could expect. Example: “Automate 80% of your admin tasks with AI tools so you can focus on growing your business—not running it.” 3️⃣ Social proof that builds trust They all had case studies, testimonials, or some “before and after” examples that made their results feel attainable and traced the customer journey. 4️⃣ A sense of urgency or exclusivity The best offers often had limited spots or bonuses for quick action. People are more likely to commit when they feel the opportunity is time-sensitive or exclusive. 5️⃣ A connection to the founder’s personal story The best weren’t faceless. They reflected the founder’s journey, values, and expertise. In other words, there was an emotional connection - clients felt like they were buying into a partnership with someone who truly understands where they are at now. So, what does this mean for your business? Your offer doesn’t need to be complex—it just needs to resonate. > Speak directly to your ideal client’s pain point. > Show them the transformation you deliver. > Build trust with examples of your work. > Add Cialdini principles to encourage action. > Let your story shine through - people buy from people. If your offer isn’t getting the traction you hoped for, revisit these five elements. What else makes an offer stand out? ImagineThat #futureofwork #solopreneurship #entrepreneurship #servicesbased

News just in 📣 The co-founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman, predicts an end to traditional 9-5 jobs by 2034. That is in less than 10 years time. Hoffman cites two main reasons for this: 1) AI disrupting the job market. 2) The rise in the gig economy. He explains how the future workforce will not be tied to any single employer, but will be able to work for themselves and choose the work they want to take. More people are taking their expertise and delivering it to individuals / companies that need it. And remote work means you have access to a potential global marketplace. Hoffman is predicting a change I’ve been seeing over the last few years: → More people betting on themselves. → Working for themselves. → Working from anywhere. In the next 10 years, we will see a younger workforce that has grown up with a very different mindset to their predecessors. One where the goals of job security and staying with one employer are no longer as prevalent. One where experiences > possessions. Many found Hoffman’s comments to be gloomy and a threat to traditional work structures... … but like with any revolution, it can be taken as a threat or as an opportunity. If done correctly, the rise of AI combined with WFA, one person businesses, online services and the gig economy does not have to spell an end, but rather a positive transformation for how we work today. One that provides greater flexibility, opportunities and freedom for those that want it. Full read in the comments. ** I'm Niluka. People don’t just want remote work. They want the freedom to choose when, where, and how they work. The old way: → WFH or the office (no in-between) → "Dress-down Fridays" as a perk → Hybrid = mandatory 2 days in the office → Fixed hours, fixed location, fixed mindset The new way: → Work from anywhere in the world 🌎 → 2-3 month escapes over winter → Coworking space, office, home, cafe, terrace—you decide → Flexible schedules that prioritise output, not hours The freedom to shape work around life, not the other way around. Work isn't just about where you sit—it's about the value you create. It's time we shake up the conversation for good. ImagineThat #workfromanywhere #futureofwork #digitalnomad

Is this a hidden gem for digital nomads? Last month I was flown to Mostar to speak at the CBCC conference. Heading there, I was not really sure what to expect. After all, Bosnia and Herzegovina isn’t the first place you think of when you choose a destination to work from. Here’s why it could be the next nomad hub: 1) Walkable and easy to get around The two main cities are small and walkable, making them easy to navigate without the need for transport. 2) Buy-in from the government, EU and policy makers This is a big one, especially given the backlash in some cities which have become oversaturated in recent years. By contrast, there is a lot of work being done to attract nomads here. The communities are warm and welcoming as a result. 3) Good WiFi and coworking spaces A given but a must for anyone working remotely. Not always the case! 4) Safe and friendly The overall atmosphere is safe, with low crime rates. 5) Affordable It’s on the lower end of the scale when it comes to prices in Europe. Expect to pay around 30% less than you would for food or rent in other popular European destinations. 6) Out the Schengen Zone This is a BIG one for UK citizens post Brexit, as well as for US nomads. Many will be looking for places to reset after their 90 day allowance is up. It is a great place to head if you don't want to leave Europe. 7) It's just… beautiful 😍 Working from anywhere means finding places that make your heart (and eyes) sing. The landscape and nature here is incredible. It's also an easy drive to other areas nearby, like Croatia and Montenegro. I have realised that being in nature and green is important to me, so this was amazing for that. ** Grateful that I got to experience this place of the world - all thanks to work! Today is my birthday 🎈 I’m not doing a big celebration as I’ve never really been a big ‘birthday person’ (which surprises people) but I’m looking forward to a walk by the sea and dinner later. I always find my birthday a nice time to reflect (and a bit scary too!) This year, I’m thinking about the life I’m trying to create, the business I’m building and the loved ones I care about. I genuinely am so excited to be working on ImagineThat and helping shape the future of work, giving professionals an alternative path into solopreneurship and location freedom combined. Being able to create something that feels aligned with my interests and background is a good feeling. I won’t be doing a ‘Everything I've learnt by’ list BUT I will say things can get very interesting indeed when you combine a dream with action. Be brave.  Don’t worry about what other people think. And remember that if you start small, you can achieve a lot more than you might think. Very grateful to everyone who has supported me to date, including my friends and mentors at KPMG UK who encouraged me to spread my wings a few years ago... all the people I have met across the world (12+ places and counting 🌏) various founders, entrepreneurs and trailblazers those in the ImagineThat Academy and the awesome people I've met on LinkedIn itself. Nomadic entrepreneurship is one WILD ride. Okay. That’s all for now… Time to eat cake 😃 #workfromanywhere #founderreflections #entrepreneurship #digitalnomad

WHAT A WEEK Last week I was flown to the Annual Cross Border Coworking Conference (CBCC) in Mostar to be a guest speaker at their 2024 event specialising in digital nomadism and the future of work. I got the speaker invite back in June and honestly, it’s always been a dream of mine to be a professional speaker at a conference like this! I specifically spoke on: - My own experience from corporate → entrepreneurship, London → the rest of the world - The importance of distinguishing between WFA (working from anywhere) and remote work and whether they bring "peace of mind or solitude" - How, why and if digital nomadism is different for entrepreneurs vs employees, introverts vs extroverts - The biggest challenges of working from anywhere and what we must do to make this sustainable on both a personal and professional level - Why organisations are struggling to keep up with employee demands for location freedom and what can be done about this - How the world of work is changing and my advice for anyone considering taking a similar path (tip: experiment and break it down) Throughout the day there was also a wonderful selection of workshops as well as a fascinating talk by CEO of Croatia News Paul Bradbury who highlighted the value of the region. Some other discussions I found particularly interesting included: → As a digital nomad, what is the point or purpose to this? Why are we even here? → In online services, what can you take away in your sales and marketing rather than add? → What makes a good coliving or coworking space? Why do some succeed and others fail? And SO much more. While at the conference, I got to meet many inspiring people from all backgrounds and countries. Policy and government makers in the region, inspiring entrepreneurs, organisations in the future of work space like Native Teams, NX2U and Telemach BH, seasoned nomads, cowork owners and more. A global network from around the world including the UK, the US, Europe, Canada and of course, Bosnia and Herzegovina - a place I hadn’t paid much attention to until now (but more on that in another post). This event got me SO fired up 🔥 Bringing together a group of like-minded individuals pioneering the future of work space. It was great to meet so many interesting people and be able to share my own insights at the event. Thank you for having me.
