#IDUG EMEA 2024 is now completed with a great success. Let's look at the numbers. - 400 in-person - 156 Distinct Companies - 33 Countries represented - %10 increase over 2023 - 43 First Time attendees - some of the speakers were also first time attendees which is so important to grow the community. Opening keynote is delivered by, Namik Hrle and Minaz Merali. It was about "What's Next in Computing and What it Means for your Data and AI strategy", very engaging and impactful. The essence of the IDUG success has multiple dimensions - Technical content about Db2 ecosystem with different POVs from vendors, users, consultants and product owners. - IDUG Administration, staff, volunteers (IDUG BOD and EMEA Planning Team) and sponsors who actually make this event happen with their significant contribution. - Venue and location which is always considered to attract attendees with their loved ones. In nutshell, It is the success of such a big Db2 Community! Db2 Panels are always a key component of the conference grid. This year Akiko Hoshikawa, Daniel Martin, Haakon Roberts, Anthony Ciabattoni, Toine Michielse, Ute Kleyensteuber and Bjarne Nelson was part of Db2 for z/OS Expert Panel. Unfortunately, we also experienced the worst disastrous storm in Valencia which impacted a lot to the people of Valencia. Our prayers and support are with them. Finally, I have been recognized with the votes of on-site attendees as one of the top 10 speakers and Best Overall Speaker with the great company of Christian Garcia-Arellano John Campbell John Hornibrook Maja Adam Michal Bialecki Philip Nelson Roy Boxwell, Thomas Baumann and Toine Michielse Next IDUG EMEA will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany between October 26-30, 2025. Watch for Call for Presentations and we're looking forward to build the best technical content with you! All great things must eventually come to an end, and yesterday marked the conclusion of #IDUG EMEA 2024. It was an incredible experience. A beautiful city of València was most definitely a bullseye in terms of the venue 🎯 This event also happened to be where my debut on the international stage took place, and I’m grateful for the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received. Joining forces with Markus Fraune we delivered a presentation on performance monitoring aspect related to #Db2 migration from z/OS to LUW and state-of-the-art monitoring systems in general. An inspiring experience from start to finish. I’m already looking forward to next year! IDUG: International Db2 Users Group

Thank you #IDUGEMEA for an amazing week in Valencia, getting together #IBM #Db2 customers, vendors, students and academics to talk databases ! Got to present on The Open Mainframe Project #zowe and the key part it plays in #Db2 modernisation and simplification, especially around the #Db2AdminFoindation #zowe desktop plugin. Got to see some amazing sessions in the week and meet some amazing folks. Thank you all. At the same time as the conference #valencia suffered some terrible weather and flooding that affected other parts of the city, and while I’m leaving with great memories of a wonderful conference, it’s awful to see the TV pictures of devastation elsewhere and the terrible loss of life. It was fitting that IDUG: International Db2 Users Group closing session asked folks to donate to the RedCross relief efforts, and during my session there was a 2 minute silence to remember those affected.

Congratulations to Scott Walker, winner of an IBM #TechXchange award for Excellence In Community Advocacy. Well deserved!
I’m home and unpacking. I just had to post a photo of this cherished award. THANK you! 💙 I have more to share… I hope you saw my previous post. I’m a modest person. You can put yourself out there to encourage and assist others. You may lack the confidence or feeling like you’re not an expert and have a lot to learn. Guess what? That’s being human. We are better together and the community needs more giving just as much (or more) of what we receive. Yes I’m talking to the ones hiding in the corner or back of the room sitting beside me. 😆 CHALLENGE! What is a topic of activity you will do? This conference was full of energy. Keep it going! You received a lot so go home and share. You do not have to speak publicly. Connect 1:1 and produce content via posts, written article or present with someone who can take the lead. Find your way and just do it! #IBMTechXchange #IBMChampion #Db2 #Db2Z #IBMZ #IDUG
