When my kids were younger, their nightmares were made of boogies, ghosts, exams, sports injuries, curfews and broccoli. Somewhere in the world, there is a #teenagemom who wishes these were her nightmares. Nobody knows the trials a #teenagemom lives through. The fears, the insecurities, the normalized cruelty. I'm against #childmarriage because I lived through one. #IWantFreedom is my story of escaping. But it shouldn't be the only one. Let's help millions of girls escape this scourge.

My heart bleeds every time I hear of a #teenbride. The wedding bells are tolls of loss. The loss of dreams, of home and familiarity, of safety, of innocence. And the start of a life no one should have. Somewhere a young girl is echoing me when she says #IWantFreedom. Let's help her. She's not alone.

In many countries today, thousands of teenage girls are dying from marital rape, domestic abuse, untreated pregnancy, forced starvation and other abuses.
