Working to ensure safe, vibrant, and healthy communities, where all people and places are thriving, no exceptions.
About us
Healthy Communities Delaware ensures that all people and places thrive through a collaborative, place-based approach that delivers community impact. We work in partnership with Delaware communities experiencing inequities. We work on community-driven priorities around the social determinants of health—conditions into which we are born, grow, live, learn, work and play that affect our health. We use a collaborative, place-based approach with the goal of collective impact. Every Delawarean should have the basics needed to live a healthy life – safe and healthy homes, a quality education, meaningful employment, a healthy environment, access to healthy foods, financial stability, and reliable transportation. Yet far too many people are limited by where we live, the amount of money we make, or the discrimination we face. Together, we can break down these barriers to give every Delawarean a fair and just opportunity to reach their full potential.

We're excited to share a timely article by The Rippel Foundation, "A State Unites Around Vital Conditions for All to Thrive: Healthy Communities Delaware (HCD)" on the depth of our partnership. With support from Rippel, we are maximizing our community investments, furthering capacity building efforts, and building the field for a unified outlook on equity. Alignment with Rippel has allowed us to ramp up quickly over the past 5 years and make headway to improve the Vial Conditions in Delaware. “Rippel helped us grasp clear concepts, clear language, and clear tools that we can use to do the things that we already wanted to do but would have spent a lot of time trying to workshop ourselves. It was an accelerator.” -Kate Dupont Phillips, HCD Executive Director. Read the full article to see how this partnership has advanced our work. We’d love to hear from you—how has this collaboration influenced your work or community? HCD Reads 📚 The Route 9 Community Development Corporation's (formerly New Castle Prevention Coalition) works in revitalizing the Route 9 corridor by supporting the creation of an economic development plan for New Castle Avenue, the implementation of a hometown overlay to guide future growth, and the expansion of a Maintenance Co-operative to assist with home repairs. This year they will also focus on beautification projects and engaging the community through public meetings and workshops to create a #ThrivingNaturalWorld.
