As co-chair of the Senate Law Enforcement Caucus, Senator Coons, alongside Senator John Cornyn, highlighted the bipartisan efforts to address recruitment and retention issues through initiatives like the Recruit and Retain Act. This act, a testament to collaborative problem-solving, is making strides in reducing onboarding costs and streamlining administrative tasks across the nation. A key takeaway from the session was the emphasis on bridging gaps between law enforcement agencies and educational institutions to build a sustainable recruitment pipeline. As Senator Coons pointed out, "There is a generational challenge in getting younger Americans to see the value of public service." 🤝 Scott Cooper, Director of Business Development and Co-Founder at All-Star Talent Consulting, our partner company, shared his expert insights on what advice he would give to law enforcement agencies transitioning to digital marketing. "A lot of departments have tried digital marketing and social media without getting the results they wanted. The main issue? Their campaigns aren’t set up to measure the results they actually want," Scott explained. "You need to create a feedback loop to know what's working and what's not. This involves using tracking codes so applicants are tagged from the start." 🔥 Scott’s aha moment came from a recent campaign for a California police department aiming to recruit more women. Initially, only 18% of respondents were women. After trial and error with different ads and images, they found a formula where 72% of applicants were women. "It's about understanding that it'll take trial and error and having a good framework to pivot quickly," he emphasized.
