The holiday season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and cherishing the relationships that enrich our lives. At GS Enterprises, we hold dear the connections we've built with our colleagues, clients, and friends. This year, we're especially grateful for our friend and former colleague, 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶. As our first hire and an exceptional procurement manager, Barry played a pivotal role in our company's early growth. His recent visit to Connecticut to reconnect with Gordon and me was a heartwarming reminder of the enduring bonds we've formed. At GS Enterprises, we believe that fostering strong, lasting relationships is key to our success. The holidays offer a perfect opportunity to celebrate these connections and reaffirm our commitment to each other. Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season filled with meaningful reunions and cherished moments. #HolidaySeason #Gratitude #TeamGS #CherishedConnections

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 Leadership is more than just a title—it’s the driving force behind how a company operates, grows, and thrives. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 To build a high-performing team, keep these key factors in mind when hiring or promoting managers: 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗘𝗤): • Leaders with strong EQ can manage stress, communicate effectively, and inspire their teams. • Look for candidates who demonstrate empathy, self-awareness, and the ability to build relationships. 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: • Great managers embody and reinforce your company’s culture and values. • During the interview, ask situational questions to gauge how their leadership style aligns with your mission. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: • Operational leaders must make tough decisions under pressure. • Assess their ability to weigh options and take decisive, informed actions. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: • Past performance is a strong indicator of future success. • Look for tangible examples of how candidates have led teams to achieve measurable results. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: • A great manager doesn't just meet goals; they help their team members grow. • Ask candidates about their approach to mentorship and team development. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: • In today’s fast-paced business environment, leaders must embrace and drive change. • Use scenario-based questions to test how they navigate uncertainty or unexpected challenges. 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: • Effective leaders build bridges between departments to create a unified organization. • Assess how well they communicate and collaborate across teams. 𝗔 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 I was recently reminded of how leadership impacts not only operations but also people when I received this kind testimonial: "𝑆𝑢𝑠𝑎𝑛 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑔𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚𝑠. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐤: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 Starting a business is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things you can do. It’s not glamorous, and it often involves making sacrifices and prioritizing what’s truly important. For my business partner and me, this became very real when we found ourselves sharing a single recycled desk for six months. That desk became the cornerstone of our journey—not because it was comfortable or ideal, but because it allowed us to focus on what mattered most: building a dream. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 In those six months, we didn't focus on fancy offices or personal conveniences. Every resource went toward: 1⃣ 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 – Ensuring our operations were equipped to produce with precision and efficiency. 2⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺– Hiring the right people who shared our vision and would become the foundation of the company culture. 3⃣ 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 – Delivering on promises, even with tight timelines, to build trust and credibility with our customers. That desk represented something bigger: a relentless commitment to our goals. It wasn't about where we sat; it was about why we were there—to create a business that could grow sustainably, foster a positive culture, and deliver value to our customers. 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁 Bootstrapping means making tough choices every day. It’s about asking yourself: • What’s the next critical step to move the business forward? • What can wait until later? • How can I stretch every dollar to get the most impact? 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸 ✔️ 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: It’s not about where you start but where you're headed. ✔️ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: Keeping your eyes on the ultimate goal, ✔️ 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Sharing one desk strengthened our partnership and reminded us that we were in this together. 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 Looking back, we wouldn't trade those six months for anything. They taught us grit, resourcefulness, and the importance of prioritizing the mission over personal comfort. Now, as we sit at our own desks, we're proud of the culture we've built and the progress we made—all because we focused on the big picture. To all the entrepreneurs out there hustling and bootstrapping: Remember, it’s not the desk that matters. It’s the dream you’re building while sitting at it. 💡 What sacrifices have you made to pursue your dreams? I'd love to hear your story in the comments. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: 𝐈𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 A brilliant strategy, vision, or plan is only as good as its execution. Execution is the bridge between having a great idea and achieving meaningful results. It’s not just about working harder—it’s about working smarter with the right team in place. Here’s a striking fact: 67% of well-thought-out strategies fail because of poor execution. Even the most innovative ideas can fall short without a solid operational plan and a team aligned to carry it forward. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Execution happens when you empower the right people with the right tools and a clear direction. A business thrives not because of one individual’s brilliance but because of the collective excellence of a team that is aligned, capable, and motivated. Here’s what we believe are the key ingredients to enable execution: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺: • People who not only have the skills but also the mindset to take ownership and deliver results. • Team members who understand the mission, share the vision, and support each other to achieve success. 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: • Execution fails when teams don't know what’s expected. Alignment of goals, roles, and priorities is non-negotiable. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: • It’s not enough to set goals; you need people who hold themselves and each other accountable to those goals. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: • Give your team the tools, autonomy, and trust they need to make decisions and take action. Micromanaging kills execution. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: • A team that embraces feedback, learns from mistakes and adapts is a team that can execute consistently and effectively. 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗲! • Now, we would love to hear from you! What does “execution” mean to you in your role or business? • What strategies have you used to ensure your team is set up for successful execution? • What’s been your biggest challenge when it comes to turning ideas into action?
