In the lat­est episode of Cas­ey­Cast, I sat down with renowned econ­o­mist Lawrence F. Katz, the Eliz­a­beth Alli­son Pro­fes­sor of Eco­nom­ics at Har­vard Uni­ver­si­ty. Katz is a leader in labor eco­nom­ics and social pol­i­cy, with his work influ­enc­ing nation­al strate­gies to reduce pover­ty and pro­mote equi­ty. We explored the trans­for­ma­tive role of research and evi­dence-based pol­i­cy­mak­ing in dri­ving mean­ing­ful change for chil­dren, fam­i­lies and communities. Please give it a listen!

Micron Technology’s $2 billion investment in its Manassas semiconductor facility marks a pivotal moment for the Baltimore-Richmond corridor. This strategic expansion positions our region as a key player in the nation’s innovation and manufacturing future, strengthening the country's supply chain resilience. Backed by $275 million in federal funding through the CHIPS and Science Act, Micron is creating 950 construction jobs and over 400 permanent manufacturing roles while modernizing its semiconductor production facilities. From automotive to industrial sectors, this work supports industries critical to economic growth and national security while offering pathways to high-quality jobs and workforce development opportunities. As the second largest employer in the city, Micron continues to drive economic growth and technological advancements in the region.
