Building a better future. Due to exponential growth in the City of Aiken, SC, the brand-new Shaws Creek Water Treatment Plant and Utilities Building is a set to transform water quality and sustainability for the surrounding area. The City officially marked the first milestone on the project as they broke ground on the facility that once completed, will feature an influent pump station; upgraded treatment and chemical processes; added on-site storage with the new administration and chemical buildings; and a new utilities building. Adding pizzazz to the BJCC Piazza! ✨   The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) Concert Hall and Legacy Area are hosts to multiple events throughout the year. From headlining artists to local dance recitals, lots of memories are made on the campus. With the space between the two venues being underutilized, the BJCC Board is planning to refresh the connecting outdoor area, making it more inviting for those attending events. The new space is designed to feel more parklike by creating much more greenspace, as well as featuring artistic sculptures and a water feature. Construction is set to begin by the end of the year, with the project scheduled for completion in late-summer 2025, on time with the new Coca-Cola Amphitheater – also part of the BJCC campus.  GMC is the project lead, landscape architect and civil engineer on the project, partnering with SDAC, Jackson, Renfro & Associates, Inc. and MBA Engineers, Inc..     #BuildingCommunities #GMCNetwork #GMCAlabama #GMCBirmingham #LandscapeArchitecture #CivilEngineering #VenueDesign #EntertainmentDesign #Design #BJCC

Last month, GMC held its seventh annual Building Communities Day of Service, where our team partnered with 30 local organizations throughout our footprint to serve in various ways. Last week, GMC had the opportunity to participate in Clemson Football’s Career Hiring Fair, led by P.A.W Journey. P.A.W. – or “Passionate About Winning” – Journey is a leadership initiative that holistically develops Clemson University’s football student-athletes through personal growth, life skills and professional development. It encourages football student leaders to maintain a continually competitive posture towards all aspects of the journey of life, teaching each of them to apply their leadership, while also challenging them to seek new victories in their careers, communities and households. During the event, athletes had the opportunities to connect with 31 diverse companies, where they were able to network and learn more about potential internships and job opportunities following graduation. Welcoming a new addition! Scheduled to open in January 2025, the new labor and delivery unit at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast will be a critical component for expecting families, accommodating both current and future growth of the community. The completed design will have four specialized labor and delivery rooms, eight postpartum recovery rooms and a fully equipped newborn nursery, each designed to provide a comfortable, safe and supportive environment for mothers and newborns. Ready to rock 🤘 Located in Downtown Birmingham, the final beam has officially been placed on the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex’s (BJCC) new Coca-Cola Amphitheater, with top artists already being announced for its 2025 lineup of shows. The 9,300-capacity outdoor venue, managed by Live Nation Entertainment, will offer a vibrant destination for live music and entertainment, hosting a combination of concerts, festivals, community gatherings and special events throughout the year. In addition to the iconic views of the City of Birmingham’s downtown skyline, the design will also include a VIP club, concessions, back of house space and offices. GMC is designing this venue in partnership with Generator Studio, the architect of record on the project. Additional partners include Stone Building Company, Schoel and Studio 2H Design, LLC.
