The Worst Marketer in the World

When we were planning Goldenhour we asked our audience two questions: 1. Why do you go to B2B conferences? and 2. What is the worst part of B2B conferences? Funny enough, we basically got the same answer for both questions: 1. People go to learn, but the content was by far the number one response for "worst thing about B2B conferences.: 2. People go to network, but many find it very difficult to network because they aren't natural born extroverts who can work a room. 3. People go to have fun, but the entertainment provided by the venue is terrible or not inclusive to all. These became the hills we were going to die on trying to change about Goldenhour. - Content was going to be vetted so nothing was a pitch. - We were going to create a networking experience that catered to the introverts. - We were going to have an inclusive dinner with the whole conference (not just speakers) with some amazing entertainment. Head of Content + Brand at Close

Last week, I stood on a stage at Goldenhour talking about the importance of connection and empathy in content. Meanwhile, we were surrounded by a magical abundance of both during this inaugural event. Tbh, I connected so hard that I needed to unplug for a few days. 😅 As others have said, it was a battery-draining, inspiring, and heart-filling day. Huge congrats, kudos, and gratitude to the AudiencePlus team. My biggest takeaway? While the content throughout the day was fantastic, we clearly all wanted to be together and hangout. It was a case study in the power of collective effervescence; the feeling of energy and shared harmony around a shared purpose, thought, or experience. It's proof as to why brand, community, and owned marketing are the big bets for this year (and beyond). The chance to connect with each other in this carefully crafted environment was something special. Y'all are a great hang. 🤘 Much love to everyone I got to meet, see again, and spend time with. I only wish we had more of it. 'Til next time! ✨

    Community & Audience-Led Growth Expert - SalesIntel

What have I been binge watching lately? AudiencePlus’s execution on Goldenhour. It’s a complete masterclass. From beginning to end, they’ve built this event the right way. 1) It started with a concept An event for B2B marketers by B2B marketers. A safe space for B2B marketers to share insights, build relationships, and have fun. 2) They built an otherworldly speaker lineup featuring some of the best marketers in the world. The lineup consists for B2B and B2C marketing leaders. This was purposely done. Anthony’s mentioned in his LinkedIn posts that B2B could learn so much from B2C. This puts a unique twist on the content. 3) Spread Awareness After solidifying a wonderful lineup, they began promoting the event across social. The team took a people first approach. Each member is heavily active on social and I see atleast one post of theirs a day. Their messaging is consistent. The value prop is always shown. So smart! Why? If anyone were to ask me, “What’s Goldenhour, and why should I care?” I could easily answer in a way that influences the person to go. I can’t comment on their email strategy, but I’m sure it was great. 4) Audience Quality Spreading awareness is half the game. Having the right people in the room is essential if you want the event to be great. By utilizing LinkedIn the team was able to build out an attendee list without using a spray and pray approach. This ensures the bad apples don’t get into the event. 5) Creating a community around the event Now that the event is 2 weeks away, AudiencePlus created a private slack channel for the attendees. For a week straight, people have been introducing themselves and chatting. It feels like a big reunion and I only know a few people in real life that are attending. Kudos to the AudiencePlus team for challenging the status quo. It’s the people who attend that make the event, but the way the event is set up matters a lot too. B2B events don’t have to be boring. Excited for next week! Who else is attending? 😜😀 #goldenhour #b2bmarketing

    Influencer Marketing @ Clay

In case you didn't know, I'm speaking at Goldenhour on April 17 in Brooklyn, NY. Literally everyone is going to be there, and I'm giving a talk with Todd Clouser on how to build a show strategy as a B2B company (that goes beyond podcasts and webinars). Now, the awesome folks over at AudiencePlus sent every speaker a swag box (my first one ever), and I filmed an unboxing video for it (my first one ever), lol. Check it out below, and see how I ended up with Travis Tyler's stuff, lol. Also, if you haven't bought tickets to Goldenhour yet, and are thinking about going, use my promo code OBAID20 for 20% off your tickets. It's going to be the best B2B event in forever. P.S. So many of you reached out to me after my post yesterday, and I want you to know I appreciate you alot. I'll be getting back to everyone soon

Notable excited Nolan is hitting the road! But there’s one problem… Every time I say the name of the conference, some singer named JVKE shows up like Jake from Statefarm. I can’t escape it. Just watch the video and you’ll see what I mean… Anyways. Theres nothing I love more than extroverts, hotel rooftops, and talking about marketing for 10 hour straight. Which is why I’m so thrilled to be attending Goldenhour. Are you or someone you know also going? Let me know in the comments since small talk is my all time favorite activity, right after public speaking. I literally can’t get this song out of my head. You’re welcome.

VP of Marketing @ B2B Rizz | ABM + LinkedIn ads | B2B Doesn’t Have to Be Boring

B2B events desperately need some innovation. Most say they’re different but are they really?! Now I don’t know if Goldenhour is changing that but I sure as sheet hope so. They are doing some interesting and different things though, such as 👉 Dedicated networking for everyone to chat with speakers 👉 Companies are sponsoring content activations, not booths. So you don’t have to be worried about sneaky badge scanners 👉 Venue is a skyrise with a hot tub that may or may not be usable 🤷♂️ 👉 Obaid Durrani and Dave Gerhardt are going (and they don’t go to anything, which is fair) 👉 Speaker line up is ridiculous, all you realky need to know for that is that Kaylee is speaking I’m excited. Gonna be speaking (I think) and walking around doing some on the street (event) content. 📆 April 17, Brooklyn NY It’s the place to be, if you don’t go, are you really a B2B’r??
