Greetings from the Crissy Field Center Teaching Kitchen 🥙˙🍽️✨! “We want to connect young people to the decisions they're making in the grocery store and get them to think about their ecological footprint,” said Ernesto Pepito, Associate Director of Youth Leadership at the Parks Conservancy. From food history to food-centered field trips, the kitchen allows youth to follow their curiosities—and their senses—to more deeply engage with the world around them. If you missed #GivingTuesday yesterday, never fear! There’s still time to support youth programs like Urban Trailblazers, and the next generation of outdoor leaders. Head to the link to give—thank you for investing in parks💚: https://lnkd.in/gUSci2iy

Our staff’s dedication to park conservation and enhancing visitor experience is exemplified by this seasons’ Park Day. 80 Parks Conservancy and National Park Service staff participants braved the rain to work on habitat restoration at Lands End — preparing areas to be planted, removing debris, raking thatch, weeding, and carrying out maintenance work to ensure our trails are accessible for all. This event celebrates the connection between our staff members across departments, it inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of our parklands for education, recreation, and health benefits. Together, we embodied this season of giving, giving back to our public lands and to the communities who love them. When our staff comes together, we further our vision of Parks for All: Forever.

Today we reflect on family and all its forms, and how our own histories brought us to this important moment. This morning, people gathered for the Indigenous Peoples' Day Thanksgiving Sunrise Gathering on Alcatraz Island, where a tipi has been installed to honor the 1969 Occupation of Alcatraz by the Indians of All Tribes. On a radiant day this fall, former Occupiers and their descendants carried the tipi up to the west side of the island, danced, took photos, and celebrated their ancestors who put a spotlight on the history and resilience of Native American communities. History and present are deeply connected in national parks, which is why we're so passionate about our vision: Parks for All Forever. These parks tell stories, educate, and provide respite. Just a boat or bus ride away, they welcome all to create their own moments of connection. Thank you for your commitment to the national parks at the Golden Gate. We hope you're able to tell your own stories and find your own place in the parks with your loved ones this holiday season. With gratitude, Chris Lehnertz President & CEO, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

The Parks Conservancy is helping transform a piece of the the San Francisco waterfront, turning it into a "vibrant hub" to access the cultural and natural history of Alcatraz Island and the broader #GGNRA. "What we really want to do is make sure this is a gateway to a national park,” said our CEO Chris Lehnertz in this recent article: To read the full article, click the link: https://lnkd.in/g8zmm5AK

A message from our President & CEO Chris Lehnertz: In light of the recent election, one thing has been made abundantly clear: We are a nation in need of healing and coming together. Parks provide spaces for reflection and connection—a haven for all. The current climate should refocus how essential it is to stand together for these places that matter most. The Parks Conservancy remains committed to people and parks, and we firmly believe in the power of nature, public lands and the history of resistance to inspire and educate. Together with our members, our community, and our partners, we do the important work of connecting people to the centering and healing power of national parks. That means all people—LGBTQ+ youth, seniors, veterans, people of color, environmentalists, families, individuals, historically marginalized communities—everyone. We address systemic barriers, issues, and inequities within the parks, to nurture an environment where visitors and community members of all identities feel welcomed, cared for, and a true sense of belonging. Now more than ever, our work is essential. At the Parks Conservancy, we'll redouble our efforts to ensure our mission remains prioritized and our values uncompromised. As we look to the future, let's continue our journey together, committed to creating inclusive national park spaces where everyone belongs—Parks for All, Forever. . . .
