Interested in pursuing sustainability professionally? There’s jobs out there waiting for you. From 2023 to 2024, global demand for green talent surged by 11.6%, but supply only grew by 5.6%. This disparity means that the green talent gap is not only growing but accelerating. The call to action is clear: we need to double the green talent pool by 2050 or risk jeopardizing our sustainability goals. Globally, job seekers with green skills or titles have a 54.6% higher hiring rate compared to the workforce overall. In the United States, green talent’s hiring rate exceeds the overall rate by 80.3%, while in Ireland, it’s 79.8%, and in the UK, 72%. Even in countries where green job postings have declined, such as Finland and the Netherlands, green skills continue to make candidates stand out. Happy August, all! As we move towards a new school year, UT has two further education certificates that might be of interest to our alumni and community members. First, the GSLI works with Texas Executive Education to offer a 9-12 month Sustainability Leadership certificate with start dates throughout the year. This program will equip current and aspiring leaders with the tools to strategize for sustainability, develop an action plan for sustainability initiatives, and measure its impact. It is ideal for sustainability and CSR professionals, as well as executives or future managers looking to integrate sustainability into their organization's functional areas. Our next start date is scheduled for October 28th. Early registrants will receive a discount. Learn more - https://bit.ly/gsliexecweb Second, our friends at The LBJ School's RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service are offering a new Social Entrepreneurship Certificate created in partnership with Texas Executive Education and Suzanne Smith of Social Impact Architects. This comprehensive certificate program is an opportunity to develop your ideas and craft innovative solutions for social impact. Designed for professionals across nonprofits, for-profits, and government agencies, it emphasizes high engagement and practical learning. Their application deadline is Monday, August 19th. You can email [email protected] with questions.
