GSR’s post-election tour of Europe continued in Ireland with a presentation to business leaders at the Dublin Chamber. Some of the key insights included: - With legislative elections in less than two years, Republicans will have to carefully weigh and soon justify their support for some of Trump’s more extreme nominees and proposals. - Don't make the mistake of taking a “wait and see” approach with Trump. Find opportunities to create a constructive context for conversations around your industry and company with the new American administration. - The Irish advantage should not be understated. The country should lift up and lean into its strategic reservoirs of goodwill, high standards on quality and service, along with a strong commitment to science and sustainability, at a time when the United States will be weakening our work in these areas.

Following Paris, the next stop on our tour was Brussels. MedTech Europe hosted GSR's Brett Bruen for a briefing on the next American administration during their November Public Affairs Committee meeting. That session was followed by a presentation to members of the Public Affairs Council, which includes some of the world's largest companies. A few of the key insights included: - Embrace non-traditional media. If Trump's strategy shows us anything, it's the power of podcasts, social media and other non-traditional communications platforms. - Europe should seize the opportunity to take the lead on global crises. Trump's international disengagement opens up space for other governments, but also the private sector, to expand its work addressing challenges from Africa to Latin America. - China connections will come under increasing scrutiny. Companies will need to choose between the American and Chinese market, with Trump's national security nominees signaling an even harder line towards Beijing.

GSR kicked off our post-election tour of Europe at the Ritz in Paris. Our Brett Bruen spoke with leading French television host Margot Haddad about how the next American administration is likely to impact European companies and how they can best navigate the complexities of the coming years. Some key takeaways included: - Don’t wait for Trump to act. Europe should come to the table with ideas, ideally flashy ones. - Elevate and expand your presence in the US. Apart from new investment, look for ways to show you are delivering benefits and opportunities to Americans. - Learn from Trump’s communications strategies.
