Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan

Thanks to our partners at SpartanNash and your generosity while shopping at VG's in Howell from October 23 through November 27, we can nourish our community together with almost 11,000 meals! Last year, Gleaners distributed more than 2.2 million pounds of food through the Shared Harvest Pantry for local families including shelf-stable food staples, fresh produce, and dairy. With your support, we will continue to take hunger off the table for our neighbors! 💚

In the past year, we served 1 million households. That’s like filling Ford Field to max capacity—15 times over! This incredible milestone is worth celebrating, but even more inspiring are the countless stories of neighbors whose lives were changed thanks to the support they received from Gleaners. Because of our generous donors and volunteers, kids had the fuel they needed to play this summer, families gathered for warm meals around their kitchen tables, seniors didn’t have to choose between paying bills and buying groceries, and veterans felt the support of a caring community. An Olympic swimming pool couldn’t hold all the milk Gleaners distributed in 2024! Milk continues to be one of the most requested items at our drive-up distributions and from our pantry partners. Thanks to our incredible donors, we’ve been able to give away more than 70,000 gallons of milk a month—that’s more than a total of 862,000 gallons. In 2023, Gleaners embarked on an exciting partnership with Whirlpool Corporation and Feeding America to address food insecurity in Southeast Michigan communities. Through the Feel Good Fridge Program, we’re helping improve access to healthy food options by increasing storage capacity for fresh and perishable items. Currently, more than 68 of our agency partners have received donated, refurbished residential fridges and chest freezers through the program—more than 214 units supporting our neighbors in need!
