Your team's go-to for technical knowledge management
About us
Product documentation your users will love. GitBook has everything you need to create beautiful docs for your users — so you don’t have to build your own editing tools, CMS, website and more. You can just focus on writing great content. GitBook’s branch-based Git workflow encourages your whole team to collaborate by creating a branch, requesting a review, and merging when ready. It’s a flow your developers already know and love — and they can even edit your docs in their code editor using Git Sync. That’s all backed up by AI that lets your users find what they need fast, publishing settings that put you in control of who can access your docs, and internal documentation for your own team. Reusable content a super easy way to keep your docs updated. Here’s how it works: 1. Select some blocks 2. Turn them into reusable content 3. Add it to other pages in your space 4. Edit the original content to update every instance This is one of our most-requested features, and there are plenty of uses cases: We’ve seen beta testers using synced blocks to build banners advertising a virtual event. They’ve added alerts to tell their users that they’re looking at an older version of the docs, or single line-paragraphs that describe common product features. Some have added beta feature disclaimers at the bottom of certain pages — and there’s many more options. As we build more tools for managing content at scale, it’s really important to us that we don’t compromise on the values that bring users to GitBook today. So if you’ve built a review workflow around change requests, you’ll still be able to use that same workflow when you create and edit reusable content. 🚨 New block alert! 🚨 We recently added a stepper block to give you more options when creating step-by-step guides in your docs. You can then add all kinds of content to each step — including code blocks, drawings, images and more. Check out our docs to find out more and see it in action:

Stay in control of content visibility with hidden pages 😶🌫️ Got a docs page that only certain users should see — maybe explaining a closed beta feature or covering legal information? With hidden pages you can hide them from the table of contents, so users browsing your docs won’t be able to see them. Plus, you can also control whether they show up in your site search and in search engines like Google 🕵️ Lock it all down, and only users with the direct URL will be able to access those pages — but they’ll still live alongside all your other documentation in context.
