Thanks to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia for supporting local children! We are so proud to contribute to replacing equipment that will help the organization continue its important mission.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia (BGCCG) announces the launch of their end of year capital campaign aimed to raise $250,000 to replace and safely secure ten HVAC units that were recently vandalized due to theft. This initiative aims to restore the club and maintain it's role as a place of inspiration and growth for generations to come.   The Carl D. Thomas Club, a critical asset to the community, faced challenges when it's ten HVAC units were vandalized leaving the facility in urgent need of repairs. In light of this, BGCCG has launched this ambitious campaign not just to replace the damaged equipment, but also to improve and safely secure the club's infrastructure for the future.   BGCCG is delighted to announce that the GEICO  Philanthropic Foundation has emerged as the first major contributor to this campaign. With a generous gift of $20,000, GEICO is setting a benchmark for community involvement and support. Their donation represents a vital step toward reaching the campaign's goal and highlights their dedication to nurturing a supportive environment for local youth. For more information about the capital campaign or to explore partnership opportunities, please reach out to Phillip Bryant at [email protected].   Join us this Giving Tuesday as we aim to restore the Carl D. Thomas Club and pave the way for a brighter future for the youth in Central Georgia. Together, we can create a meaningful and lasting impact. Every donation, no matter the size, will assist in rebuilding the Carl D. Thomas Club and transforming it into a beacon of hope and opportunity for the youth it serves.   To assist us in replacing the HVAC systems, please visit www.bgccg.org/give-today to donate or contact our President and CEO Phillip Bryant at [email protected].

Last week, we joined over 20,000 tech professionals, students and innovators at #AFROTECH24. Partnering with AFROTECH and attending their annual conference connects us with emerging talent who are shaping the future of #GEICOtech through digital modernization and tech transformation.    This year’s conference was held in Houston, Texas, giving us the opportunity to give back to the communities where our employees live and work. With the help of our charitable partner, Shoes That Fit, we distributed hundreds of pairs of shoes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. As part of our ongoing partnership with the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program, we donated a refurbished car to a local resident in need of transportation.    At GEICO, we are invested in innovation and empathy, and are committed to developing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment both within our workplace and in our wider community.    See you at AFROTECH 2025!

Meet Kate M., Senior Tech Services Specialist at GEICO and U.S. Army veteran. In 2010, Kate suffered a great loss when her daughter unexpectedly passed away. By miracle or fate, she made an unexpected friend in a place she least expected it. In 2022, Kate was attending a Veterans Day luncheon at her office when she was introduced to the Western New York Heroes (WNYHeroes Inc.) nonprofit. Their “Pawsitive for Heroes” program connects veterans with service dogs named after fallen soldiers. Through their program, she took home her very own service dog, Abby, who has become her best friend, accompanying Kate to the GEICO office each day. The story of Kate and Abby finding each other is a truly inspiring example of the support within the military community; after Kate was able to meet the mother of the U.S. Army soldier who Abby is named after, they formed a lasting bond which Kate cherishes to this day. At GEICO, we are proud to support our employees with disabilities, both within and outside of the military community. Today, Kate is a member of GEICO’s Achieving Beyond and Lifting Expectations Employee Resource Group (ABLE), volunteering her time to the group and educating leaders on the importance of service animals for employees’ mental health. “I’m grateful to be able to bring my military experience to my civilian role here at GEICO. I’m also grateful to GEICO for making strides to improve associates’ mental health and walking this journey with me.” - Kate M., Senior Tech Services Specialist at GEICO. We had a wonderful experience as a participating sponsor at this year’s Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), the world’s largest gathering of women and nonbinary technologists. More than 30 employees and leaders from the Tech and Talent Acquisition teams were at the GEICO booth, networking with potential candidates and sharing information about our tech-centered workplace.   This year, we started a new hiring initiative that gave candidates the opportunity to interview with GEICO at GHC and potentially walk away with a job offer in hand. We are thrilled to share that we made 30 offers at GHC and are excited that new technologists will be joining the GEICO team.   One of our favorite parts of the conference was the popular session led by our very own Head of Engineering, Ann Yeung, who reflected on the evolution of her career and empowered participants to consider how they can take steps to shape their careers. Listening to Ann speak reminded us of the core purpose of the Grace Hopper Celebration: for women and non-binary technologists to learn and grow from each other.   To learn more about GEICO | tech visit geico.com/tech. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of GEICOween, we decided to bring back our classic “Horror Movie” commercial. The success of this ad led to the creation of 20 more commercials over the course of several years, launching one of our most successful television campaigns of all time, “It’s What You Do.”   The "Horror Movie" ad was so popular with viewers that it even found its way into a Stephen King book! Many things go into a great GEICO commercial: actors who commit to the bit, the creativity of The Martin Agency and our in-house team, but most importantly, an understanding of hidden yet resonant truths.   “It conveys so much about your brand and what you stand for — that whatever endeavor you take on, you’re going to do it with passion and craft in mind.” — Tom Perlozzo, Director of Brand and Creative at GEICO   Though "Horror Movie" is funny, it reflects the seriousness with which we take our marketing. Whether it's through horror, humor, or both, GEICO juxtaposes universal truths and unexpected scenarios to connect with customers and breathe relatability into insurance.
