Updates

  • The pundits have spoken on AI. Korn Ferry named “AI growing pains” as the key trend for 2025 when it comes to talent acquisition. They cited 67% of talent professionals as expecting AI to play a major role in talent strategies next year but noted that these same leaders are worried about AI compromising the human side of recruitment. And as Forbes reports, the CLO at Deloitte worries about companies valuing tech skills at the expense of human skills, saying such companies “risk the ability to continue to be innovative and harness the market.” We’re getting to that time of year when consulting firms and HR leaders will have a lot of opinions on what’s going to happen with HR, AI, and more in the coming months. Meanwhile, over here at Gables Search Group, we continue to quietly do our best work matching the best talent with the right organizations. There’s no doubt the next year will see a lot of transformation in the worlds of AI and HR, and we’ll be right there, along for the ride.

  • Saturday marks the winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year, observed in cultures around the world in various ways, from Yule to the Dongzhi Festival. In the Western world of work, while we’re all distracted by the holiday season and wrapping up our end-of-year projects, the solstice is a quiet reminder that we also need to take time to pause, reflect, and embrace change. In the world of HR I live in as a President and CEO at Gables Search Group, the solstice inspires me to think of meaningful ways to support people as we transition through the season and into the new year. For one, it’s essential to remind employees to prioritize self-care. Whether it’s using remaining PTO, engaging in wellness activities, or simply taking time to disconnect, fostering a culture that values rest ironically benefits everyone in the long run. After all, burned-out employees are not effective employees. The solstice also invites us to reflect on what we’ve accomplished. Use this time to express gratitude to your team for their hard work and resilience throughout the year. And just as the days now begin to grow longer, this is a symbolic time to look ahead. Start conversations about professional development goals and set the stage for meaningful growth in the new year. As we lean into the light of the coming days, let’s embrace this season as an opportunity to recharge, reconnect, and realign our purpose.

  • As the year winds down and the holidays approach, it's a season for celebration but also reflection. At Gables Search Group, we're grateful for the incredible talent we've connected with this year — not just job seekers but also hiring managers, HR professionals, and our own colleagues in the business of recruitment. It’s been a year of growth, resilience, and opportunity, and we’re not slowing down just because a holiday break is coming. In fact, this is a great time to refresh your resume, expand your network, and explore new opportunities. After all, hiring doesn’t truly pause during the holidays. Many companies are gearing up for an exciting start to the new year. If you are hiring for — or hoping to get hired by — one of them, let’s talk. And here’s to wrapping up 2024 on a strong note and welcoming 2025 with excitement and purpose. Wishing everyone a joyful holiday season filled with peace, laughter, and success.

  • 2025 is going to be your year. You’re finally going to move on from your current role, get out of your slump, and achieve notable things in your career. As a President and CEO, I am here to help. But first, here are a few things you can put in place: - Refresh your resume: Write down your most noteworthy accomplishments from 2024 while they’re still fresh in your memory. - Optimize your LinkedIn: Where can your profile be improved to better reflect not just your experience but your aspirations? A new profile pic? More recommendations? A snappy new headline? - Start networking: The holiday season is, in fact, a great time to connect and lay the groundwork for opportunities in the new year. Say yes to those holiday parties! These are not original ideas, I know. But in my experience as a President and CEO, they are tasks people tend to put off or avoid. Consider this your little reminder of the season.
