Bringing Georgia's Breast Cancer Community Together!
About us
Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer's mission is to engage with Georgia’s breast cancer community to increase access to care and reduce disparities in cancer outcomes. Founded in 2002, GAABC was formerly known as "It's The Journey." The Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer is our premier fundraising event. Since 2002, the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer has raised over $19 million to fund 511 grants that provide breast cancer education, screening, early detection, support services, and continuing care for Georgians. Each year at GAABC’S Giving Gala, we celebrate the programs funded by the previous year’s 2-Day Walk, and raise even more money for those programs with an elegant night out on the town! Our Georgia 5K Run for Breast Cancer (Macon) and Georgia Fun Run for Breast Cancer (Athens) are family-friendly run/walk events that celebrate breast cancer patients and survivors while raising funds that help support programs serving communities outside metro-Atlanta. Connecting communities with our mission, our Celebrating Survivors Breakfast series allows breast cancer patients and survivors to enjoy a complimentary breakfast while exploring topics unique to their lives with the help of an expert panel!

Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer (Formerly It’s the Journey) – producer of the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer- is a local organization founded in 2002 by a breast cancer survivor, Randi Passoff. She created “the Kinder and Gentler Breast Cancer Walk” based off the Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. Instead of a 3-Day walking 60 miles over 3 days and sleeping in a tent, the Georgia 2-Day Walk covers 30 miles over 2 days, and participants sleep in a hotel. Most importantly, what’s raised in Georgia, stays in Georgia. This year's walk marks the 22nd anniversary of the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. This walk would not have been possible if it was not for Randi, and we want to honor her every chance we get. Thank you, Randi! The Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer team has been hard at work these past few weeks, getting everything ready for the 2024 2-Day Walk Weekend. Here are some snippets at what's been going on. The GAABC team took some time to bond at First Watch (lots of coffee was drunk that morning). Thank you to Karen and David Milford, Kristen Kepner, and Ginger Hackett, who all came in to help with some final details. We appreciate you. We look forward to seeing everybody in a few days! 4 more days! #gaabc #georgiaallianceforbreastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer #breastcancersurvivor #2daywalk #2daywalkforbreastcancer #2days30miles

Hello, Georgia Leaders! Does your organization support a non-profit cancer organization? Do the funds they raise remain in Georgia, providing care and support for Georgians? I bet not. Here at Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer, money raised through our events and programs is activated through community grants to serve Georgia. In 2023, GAABC provided 31 grants for programs and services that reached 98 counties in Georgia. Funds raised supported 952 mammograms for uninsured/underinsured Georgias, 298 follow-up diagnostic tests, 114 genetic tests, financial assistance for 844 families in need of transportation, groceries, etc., and helped our Grantee Partners identify 25 cases of breast cancer, connecting those persons to resources during and after treatment. We invite you to become involved with us! Sponsor | Donate | Volunteer Georgia’s 2- Day Walk for Breast Cancer will take place in Atlanta, Sept. 28/29.
