Spectrum repairs taking longer than planned for your business? Next door neighbors have their internet, but you don't? Repairs take time, and sadly, we are seeing the effect of bad management from Spectrum's end, where they maintained older equipment instead of upgrading it in a timely manner. This has forced them to essentially overhaul the entire grid of their services, thus adding to the delays. In the mean time, FutureTech will help you to find a new provider, as well as find backup internet providers and services such as 5G/LTE backup lines that work off of the local cell service. Give us a call!

May everyone stay safe during the incoming weather. Outages and Downtime are likely to occur through various causes, and sometimes they can be related to something out of anyone's control, such as a fallen tree cutting the power lines. FutureTech is working with its local partners and networks to assist clients with staying online and staying safe. And remember to be kind to utility workers as they work in the storm and through the weekend to help restore any outages!

Mitigation is something that doesn't have to be done in one go. Security policies should always be deployed in a manner that allows for business to continue, while fixing gaps in your IT security. Jumping the gun and doing a full revamp could cause significant impact to legitimate business processes. One of the easiest steps any company can take to start mitigating their cyber risks? Having a good antivirus solution, with endpoint detection response. Easy to install and with central management, this provides one of the most basic, and fundamental necessities of your cyber security.

In today's world of information overload, we at FutureTech would like to remind you of an old saying from the early days of the internet. Do not believe everything you read on the internet. Due diligence should always be taken when consuming information found, as nearly every ounce of our data is consumed and distributed from sources that requires clicks, shares, and comments for engagement. And in that time, an even older saying comes to mind. "A lie can spread around the entire world, before the truth gets out of the door." We have the entire knowledge of the world at our fingertips, but we are still young in how we handle this, and as such, it is easy to allow emotion to keep us trapped in our circles, our bubbles. Know your sources, know their sources, compare with data found in other bubbles. And always remember, take it with a grain of salt!.. and make sure your security software is up to date before browsing strange web pages!

One of the easiest methods of adding a layer of security to your system is to have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled on your email accounts. This will require someone to have the email address, password, and one other randomly generated code to access the email account. This can be either through a text message to a phone, a code to another email address (not recommended unless necessary), or an Authentication App (several of which from Microsoft and Google are available for free on the app store.) Need help adding this crucial, yet simple security method to your email? Give us a call!

In the aftermath of the recent Crowdstrike incident, it is important to note that over the years, many industries have decided to cut testing and Q&A departments to maintain record profits. While I am not 100% sure on Crowdstrike's internal methods, I can say fairly confidently that their oversight should have been caught with even a basic testing lab. This is also why updates are a double edged sword, especially in security. Some updates may be meant to target what are called Day 0 attacks, to prevent more wide scale damage.. other updates may be able to wait. In any case, making sure you have a robust update policy, backup and recovery process, and mitigation policies are key to your business' success! Need a review of your processes? Give us a call, let us take a look and discuss the pros and cons with you!

In a strange twist of fate, research into passwords has shown that really complex and in depth password policies can also lead to more password violations, such as writing a password down. Password policies are requiring a good mix of security and caution. However, when in doubt, add that Multi Factor Authentication to everything you can! This second layer of protection plays a major role in preventing account breaches!
