Today I had the opportunity to attend the "Mind the Gap (and don't get hacked)" event organised by The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, which focused on the topic of #Cybersecurity and #DataProtection. It was an interesting meeting with industry experts and professionals who share the mission of making our digital environment safer. 📊 A particularly alarming statistic was brought to our attention by Massimo Proverbio: in the last year, 87% of reported cyber threats were attributable to DDoS attacks, ransomware and data breaches/leaks. This statistic underlines the urgency of adopting effective preventative measures in a constantly evolving threat landscape. After a discussion rich in technical insights, it is undeniable we must leverage the opportunities in this field with #AI. Artificial intelligence in the field of cybersecurity has a dual aspect: on the one hand, it can represent a danger, while on the other it can be a powerful tool for prevention. This duality is similar to the adaptation mechanisms we observe in nature, where organisms evolve to deal with environmental challenges. Just as in nature, Al systems can be designed to develop adaptive codes. The creation of these systems that mimic natural processes not only improve the ability to respond to threats, but also promote a safer and more resilient environment in the ever-evolving digital landscape. At Viblio, together with our business partner FutureLearn, we are studying how to best exploit these adaptive systems. 🤝 Thanks to Steven Sprague and the organisers for the invitation.

Last week, we attended the 120th anniversary gala dinner for the The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy (BCCI). We were thrilled to be a part of such a milestone event, and as one of the event sponsors, and a Sustaining Special Member of the Chamber, we’re pleased to say it was a fantastic event and an evening to remember! Some of the evening’s top highlights: An engaging keynote speech from The Rt Hon Edward Llewellyn OBE, HM Ambassador to Italy and San Marino. Plus, greetings from Steven Sprague, BCCI President, Riccardo Smimmo, Vice Capo Missione, Ministro Plenipotenziario, Ambasciata d'Italia nel Regno Unito, and the Assessora Sport, Turismo e Politiche Giovanili, Comune di Milano, Martina Riva. A panel discussion between FutureLearn, Colt Technology Services and the BCCI, moderated by Sarah Varetto, EVP Communications, Inclusion & Bigger Picture of Sky Italia. Panellists discussed lifelong learning and longevity trends, the 60-year curriculum, personalised learning pathways and the role of technology (AI, virtual reality, MOOCs) and institutions in supporting lifelong learning. Performances by the Chamber Choir of The British School of Milan - Sir James Henderson School, Tim Bagley and a special tribute to Lord George Byron by Justin Butcher. We’d like to congratulate the BCCI on 120 years and thank everyone who attended – it was great to connect with you all on such a special occasion!
