Attention electric vehicle owners— Google Maps is getting an update that will help locate charging stations more easily. With real-time info on availability and charging speed, the update makes planning road trips with charging stops easier. A recent survey conducted by FreeWire revealed that only 12% of drivers found their charging stations through Google Maps, the other predominant methods being Plugshare and charging network applications. Will Google's updates lead more EV drivers to use their app? Remember, as a site host, it's important to have your charger listed across multiple platforms with accurate information and compelling photos to help drive traffic! The times are changing! EV Charging Etiquette 101— @ArsTechnica has pulled together Debrett's latest insights now included in their "A-Z of Modern Manners" guide. Here's a quick rundown on the latest regarding EV charging etiquette: 1️⃣ Line up gracefully: Cutting in line won't earn you any brownie points. Respect fellow EV drivers and wait your turn. 2️⃣ Know your EV: Be savvy about your car's charging needs to avoid any faux pas. PHEV or full EV, each has its own charging quirks. 3️⃣ Politeness pays off: A little courtesy goes a long way. Don't be shy to ask about charging times politely. 4️⃣ Stand your ground: Don't let ICE vehicles bully you out of charging spots. Speak up if needed. 5️⃣ Plan ahead: Preparation is key, especially for road trips. Apps like PlugShare are your best friend for finding reliable chargers. 6️⃣ Tidy up: Leave charging spots as you found them. Be considerate of others and report any issues promptly.
