This week, in ───※ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 ※─── FAIR Executive Director Monica Harris reflects on how much FAIR has accomplished this year since she took the helm. Monica has led us through our hyper-polarized environment to remain steadfast and focused on driving the important, prohuman message that 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. In one year, we have seen the results. We’ve succeeded in rebuilding and growing our departments. We’ve furthered our mission to push back against societal harms driven by DEI, and give support to many impacted by cancellation, social ostracization, or violation of civil rights. In her article, she reports in detail what we’ve achieved in all these areas. She also recounts how FAIR has built partnerships with those who share our goals. “More members of the heterodox community are appreciating the depth and reach of FAIR’s network and the value we bring as event partners. We’ve partnered with FIRE and filmmakers like Ted and Courtney Balaker to showcase 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙙𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙. We’re also working with Eli Steele to host screenings for his groundbreaking film, Killing America, in New York and other cities. FAIR has established a presence at nearly a dozen heterodox conferences and events this year, including Dissident Dialogues in NYC, Braver Angels Convention in Kenosha, and we even sponsored a panel on depolarization at Freedom Fest in Las Vegas with Chloe Valdary, Ilana Redstone, and The Free Press’ Ben Kawaller.” Thank you to everyone–our donors, partners, subscribers, friends, and followers–for your continued support.
About us
The Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all Americans, and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding and humanity. We defend civil liberties and rights guaranteed to each individual, including freedom of speech and expression, equal protection under the law, and the right to personal privacy. We advocate for individuals who are threatened or persecuted for speech, or who are held to a different set of rules for language or conduct based on their skin color, ancestry, or other immutable characteristics. We support respectful disagreement. We believe bad ideas are best confronted with good ideas – and never with dehumanization, deplatforming or blacklisting. We believe that objective truth exists, that it is discoverable, and that scientific research must be untainted by any political agenda. We are pro-human, and promote compassionate anti-racism rooted in dignity and our common humanity.

The entire team at FAIR wishes you and your family for a very happy and relaxing Thanksgiving! 🦃🦃 Here’s a personal message from our Executive Director Monica Harris: ”Over the past several weeks I’ve received emails from supporters and been in conversations with members of our team who have asked the same questions: What do the election results mean for FAIR? Have Americans delivered a “mandate” that will end DEI, once and for all? My answer: We still have a lot of work to do, but we’re now in a better place to do it and get better results…We are mindful that even as some celebrate the impending death of DEI, there are renewed efforts to “revitalize [it] and adapt it to the current socio-political moment.” We remember that only a year ago there were donor revolts at elite universities, courts and schools began to scale back DEI initiatives, and Wall Street was souring on ESG-based investments—yet identity-based practices persisted and even gained strength. We recognize that the contagion gripping our country has been spreading for decades, and it will likely take just as long to eradicate. FAIR’s work can and must continue, but soon it will enter a new and exciting phase.” https://lnkd.in/eCRecFnz

A huge 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 is coming up 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟬-𝟭𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 at USC with a stellar lineup of STEM professionals & freedom of speech experts to address a series of contentious issues about scientific censorship. Speakers include Jay Bhattacharya, Wilfred Reilly, Greg Lukianoff, Jacob Mchangama, Jonathan Rauch, Carole Hooven, Jacob Mackey and many more. ➡️ Come hear their thoughts on: When, if ever, does rejection of manuscripts for publication or grants for funding constitute censorship? How much of a role, if any, should ethical/moral issues play in deciding which scientific ideas to disseminate? What are the likely costs and benefits of institutionalized censorship, how do we decide, and who decides, when the benefits outweigh the costs? When and how do university administrations and funding agencies, through either action or inaction, mask censorship by finding ostensibly “other” reasons to silence scientists? How does censorship of scientists or scientific ideas manifest? Is compelled speech a form of censorship, and, if so, how does it manifest in science? https://lnkd.in/e3WF36q7
