  • Fort Wayne Metals and the City of Fort Wayne City Utilities have teamed up to make this holiday season a little greener. 🎄♻️ We are grateful to our very own Cheryl Fisher and City Utilities’ Kerry Korpela for their creative artistic efforts. The conifer is decorated with recycled wire, spools, and pallets, as well as ornaments featuring murals from the city’s Clean Drains initiative. To get tickets to the Festival of Trees which runs Nov. 27-Dec. 4, check out the link in the comments section.

  • Our people are constantly taking action to help lift up our community. The most recent example is Alan Billings, who with his supervisor’s support took time off to volunteer with Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina. We’re proud to have team members like Alan who go above and beyond for others.

  • 2025 will mark the 15th consecutive year our people have run in community races at no cost to our employees. 🏃♂️🏃♀️ That’s because Scott Glaze, our Chairman and CEO, has long championed the importance of employee health and wellness. In 2010, Fort Wayne Metals launched a wellness benefit that covers the registration cost of a dozen or more events for employees and their dependents. This year’s races have included Fort4Fitness Fall Festival, River City Rat Race, Race Against Racism, and the Columbia City Veterans Marathon and Heroes 5K. “The support we give to these events is our way of encouraging everyone to get out and get active,” says Scott. “It will improve your health and, maybe, people will find a new passion that will enrich their lives.”

  • We made it to the third round of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Coolest Thing Made IN Indiana tournament! Thank you to everyone who voted in the last round. Round 3 voting runs through Nov. 15. Help us win by going to the comments section for a link to vote. So why do we think Nitinol is so cool that we entered the competition? For starters, it can remember its shape, so if you bend or twist it, it returns to its original form. Nitinol changes shape with temperature, making it great for applications like stents that need to travel long stretches and expand inside the body. And if that isn't interesting enough, Nitinol is also an incredibly springy metal that is both flexible and resilient, which are desirable qualities for medical devices. Thanks to its shape memory and superelastic powers, Nitinol is fast becoming a leading material used in many life-improving medical applications. #nitinol #medicaltechnology

  • When the fighter jets from the nearby Fort Wayne Air National Guard fly overhead, Jessica Lemmon is reminded of the time she served her country - and she’s filled with pride and emotion. As an Aircrew Flight Equipment Technician with the Air National Guard, Jessica maintained all pilot gear and equipment, including helmets, masks, parachutes, and flight suits. She also trained pilots on how to use this equipment. “This experience helped shape me into who I am today. It gave me strength and courage,” says Jessica, who served from 2008 to 2015 as Staff Sergeant. “Each phase of my journey is still with me today and is an amazing reminder of what can be accomplished when the greater good is kept in mind.” Jessica, our Supply Stream Manager, is one of 75 employees across Fort Wayne Metals who bravely sacrificed so much to protect our country and freedoms. We are grateful for your service to our nation – and for continuing to make an impact on lives with us.
