About us
Working together to feed the hungry in our community, The Food Pantries for the Capital District is a coalition of more than 70 food pantries located in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties. "When I first came to the pantry I did not ask for much or talk much. I was ashamed. It took me a while to get over it and accept I needed help. I am better now. Thanks to the ladies who helped me get my dignity back." - Feedback from a recent Food Pantry Guest #foodpantries #dignity #localimpact #MissionMoment

Victor Russak joined The Food Pantries in 2022 as a Referral Specialist and has since joined our Food As Medicine (FAM) team as the Food As Medicine Coordinator. In this role, Vic provides oversight, coordination, and technical assistance to FAM providers in our Food as Medicine Program and members of the NYS FAM Coalition. Vic does a great job keeping up with and sharing his knowledge of the exciting and quickly evolving Food as Medicine landscape. A lifelong learner, Vic regularly takes online courses and attends webinars/workshops to improve his skills and share what he’s learned with our team. Vic is also the creator of the “Out of Context Office Quote Book”, which is a huge hit at our social gatherings. Thank you, Vic, for your excellent work and the impact you have on our office, our coalition, and on Food as Medicine across the state.

Thanks so much Creatacor, Inc.! We appreciate your support!
In support of The Food Pantries for the Capital District, we will be collecting food and cash donations in our lobby from December 16th – January 2nd. From the Food Pantries website: “96,760 people are considered food insecure in our service area. People who are food insecure lack reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.” Access to food is a growing concern as hunger is now a chronic problem. Locally, more than 1 in 10 people (11.99%) struggle with having adequate food resources. If you are visiting our office, please consider bringing in food donations – helping the Food Pantries meet the needs of those who need it most. Or, cash donations also go a long way to help. According to the Food Pantries, they can turn every dollar into 6.25 pounds of food! Thank you!
