About us
Fonkoze USA is an American 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to securing financial and technical support for its Haitian partners - whose mission is to empower Haitians, primarily women, with the tools, resources and support needed to lift their families out of poverty. It educates the American public about Fonkoze’s work (fonkoze.org) in Haiti, facilitates technical assistance for the two Haitian entities and raises money to support Fonkoze’s programs. Fonkoze USA also acts as a channel for socially responsible investors who want to “invest” in Fonkoze’s loan fund by lending their money at subsidized interest rates. Fonkoze USA gives American donors access to tax advantages available to the fullest extent allowed and conducts the necessary due diligence on Fonkoze’s operations.

Over the past four years, Fonkoze has reimagined its Chemen Lavi Miyò (CLM) program to address barriers like unequal caregiving responsibilities and traditional gender roles in Haiti. Here’s what’s changing: ✅ Women are trained earlier to set goals and lead decisions in their homes. ✅ Men are stepping up as partners in caregiving and household leadership. ✅ Families are thriving together. As one participant shared, “Thanks to the training, I now believe in myself. I don’t just listen to others anymore—I listen to myself first.” We're poised to begin scaling these innovations to every corner of Haiti. Together, we can build a more equitable future. We are thrilled to share a few images from the December 2024 graduation of one of our most impactful initiatives—the Chemen Lavi Miyò (CLM) program! 💪 This program is at the heart of our mission to walk alongside communities in Haiti, helping families overcome barriers to a better life. This cohort in Gwo Mòn was made possible through our incredible partnership with Mercy Focus on Haiti, a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. 🌟 Together, we’re creating brighter futures and stronger communities. Join us in celebrating this milestone! 💙 #Fonkoze #Haiti

🌟 We Did It—Together! 🌟$150,312 Raised Thanks to your generosity we surpassed our Giving Tuesday goal. We thank everyone who donated and to our programs. With support of Haitian artists like Tafa Mi-Soleil, Paul Beaubrun, BeLo, Boukman Eksperyans, Ayiiti, Michaël Brun, Steeve from Lakou Mizik, and Chef Alain Lemaire, we gave voice for the women and families in Haiti that we serve. With $77,312 raised and a $75,000 match, an astounding $150,312 will go toward funding critical programs in Haiti. Your contributions help provide health care, education, and opportunities for women entrepreneurs to uplift their families and communities. 💪🇭🇹 https://buff.ly/3OED3RI This is the power of walking alongside Haiti. ✨ Thank you for believing in a brighter future. Give the gift of education for women in Haiti: Fonkoze developed a cost-efficient, tablet-based digital learning program called EdTek. This program is accessible in Haitian Creole regardless of literacy. EdTek is run through local networks and helps women in rural Haiti build skills to support their families and communities. https://buff.ly/4eMRe1y #wearefonkoze #education #inclusion #women #haiti #givingtuesday

Today, the extraordinary @MichaelBrun joins us in celebrating @fonkoze’s 30th Anniversary and Giving Tuesday. “As a Haitian, I’m really proud to say that Fonkoze is a Haitian-led organization,” Michaël shares in his message. “I think it’s incredibly important that the future of the country is in the Haitian people’s hands.” YOU can help make a difference. For over 30 years, Fonkoze has been a lifeline for families and women entrepreneurs, providing the tools they need to sustain their businesses, educate their children, and build brighter futures. This Giving Tuesday, we aim to raise $75,000 to continue this vital work. Every dollar helps @fonkoze: ✨ Support small businesses that keep communities thriving. ✨ Provide access to life-changing education and health programs. ✨ Walk alongside families, empowering them to overcome barriers. https://buff.ly/4eMRe1y

Why support Fonkoze this Giving Tuesday? Lasting change. We sat down with Yvrose, Cénel, Saintcimène, and Clairmicille—four former CLM members whose stories left us deeply inspired. https://buff.ly/3VkLXrw Hearing how they’ve transformed lives of hardship into futures filled with hope, pride, and possibility reminds us why we do this work. Through their courage and CLM’s support, they’ve built thriving businesses, strong communities, and brighter tomorrows for their families. These moments renew our belief that change is possible, even in the hardest circumstances. 💛 Their courage reminds us why we do what we do. 💛 📖 Read their stories on our blog. #haiti #TransformLives #Haiti #EconomicInclusion #TogetherWeRise
