Chairwoman Rosenworcel shares her thoughts about the New Space Age, promoting space competition, and creating space sustainability for our economy at an @SIA_satellite event today. https://lnkd.in/e7tYFipy “The reality is that we need more competition in the New Space Age...our economy doesn’t benefit from monopolies. This is a challenging industry to enter. So we have got to make it easier for more entities to invest, innovate, and compete in space.” - Chairwoman Rosenworcel To learn more about the FCC and our journey with outer space, we’ve got a one-minute explainer about the work our Space Bureau is doing:

Today we announced the launch of a major update to the Mapping Broadband Health in America platform, expanding its capacity to analyze the intersection of broadband connectivity and a range of critical health outcomes, including new variables to better examine maternal health. This powerful tool allows users to visualize and survey data on maternal health, chronic disease, opioid abuse, cancer, and social determinants of health, providing researchers, policymakers, and the public with deeper insights into the challenges facing millions of Americans, particularly in areas with limited broadband connectivity. This update significantly expands the platform's capabilities with new data and features, providing deeper insights into these critical health challenges. https://lnkd.in/eUriEWVn

At the December Open Meeting, we: • adopted rules to open the entire 6 GHz band to very low power device operations. • proposed to update rules applicable to broadcast stations to reflect current application processing requirements, codify and harmonize provisions, and remove outdated references. • adopted changes to rules governing letters of credit to relieve administrative and financial burdens on broadband providers receiving certain types of high-cost support from the Universal Service Fund. • fined three Boston-area pirate radio operators for illegal radio broadcasting. https://lnkd.in/e-UeHiNV

Today we announced new enforcement and rulemaking actions to stop bad actors from facilitating nuisance and illegal robocalls. Our Enforcement Bureau announced that 2,411 voice service providers failed to properly file in the Robocall Mitigation Database and must show cause why they should not be removed. Removal from the database means other providers will be prohibited from accepting call traffic from these providers. Also today, Chairwoman Rosenworcel proposed new rules to further tighten filing requirements for the Robocall Mitigation Database to better ensure widespread compliance and heightened awareness of provider responsibilities to protect consumers. Chairwoman Rosenworcel said: “Providers must be active partners in the fight against unwanted and illegal robocalls. If they are not, they should not be allowed to participate in our phone networks. Full stop.” https://lnkd.in/dKAtRxEt

We have reached another milestone in establishing our first-of-its-kind voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (IoT) products today by announcing the program's lead administrator. The program will allow qualifying consumer smart products that meet critical cybersecurity standards to display a label, including a new U.S. government certification mark (“U.S Cyber Trust Mark”), which will help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, easily identify trustworthy products, and encourage manufacturers to prioritize higher cybersecurity standards. The voluntary program will be a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors, with the FCC retaining ultimate oversight and control of the program and authorized third-party administrators managing activities such as evaluating product applications, granting permission to use the label, and educating consumers. https://lnkd.in/ez9DENx4
