Happy Thanksgiving! What a year it's been with you!

Crossing cultures, building connections, and learning how that delicious coffee ☕️ is made. That description just scratches the surface of what our groups experience when they visit the San Patricio Limon finca in Palencia, Guatemala. Spending time with the Reyes family as we learn about how the patriarch of the family went from poverty to owning a finca with hundreds of acres, at multiple elevations, on the side of a mountain, to having his coffee company ranked 14th in Guatemala’s Cup of Excellence. It’s quite the entrepreneur story! And something that is exceptionally rare in Guatemala. And what’s more? Some of our travelers have been lucky enough to spend quality time with Beto Reyes, the Mayor Of Palencia — and learn why the people of Palencia love him, and why he’s been elected mayor three times. He’s even had at least three Presidents visit his home. Maybe it was because he once led the conference of mayors for all of Guatemala. But we think it might have been for the coffee! That’s why we keep coming back here — for the coffee and to be in the company of this amazing family. Lake Atitlan is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and it is located in the heart of Guatemala. It is the deepest lake in Central America, with a maximum depth of 1120 feet! The lake was formed by volcanic activity going back millions of years. Today, there are three volcanoes that surround the lake and give visitors awe-inspiring views. During our many visits here we have discovered that the best sunsets at Lake Atitlan can be found from one of our favorite places to dine, at the Casa Palopo boutique hotel located near the village of Santa Catarina Palopo. This is a favorite location during our iconic group trips to Guatemala. Sometimes the best ways to spark the imagination is taking some time away from the daily grind to allow the mind to flow free with nature.
