  • Insightful thoughts from our creative director Cynthia Wainscott! 🖤

I came across a picture from a mural painted by artist Lakwena Maciver for Nike Women. Her technicolor art is inspiring and the message impactful. “Be bad until you are good, and good until you are great” 👏🏼 Whether you believe one is born with the artistic gene or anyone can develop the talent, is all about putting the work. That’s the hard part. Like with any skill, practice makes perfect. But what fuels creativity? That’s the kicker. For any creative, putting the work feels harder at the beginning, but you have to show up for your art. 🙌🏼 🎨 Here are a few things that help me get into the creative mood and keep it nurtured: - A work place that is “you”. 🤞🏼 No matter if you work in an organized chaos or a clean desk, make this place your own and inspiring. - Have a process. 📝 How do you start? Perhaps you set up all your basic tools, browse some books or pictures for inspiration. Some days I like to look at architecture, other days at illustrations. Do you sketch? This is a next step that is vital to my process. - Create daily. ✏️ You have to show up and put in the work. Even if it’s something small. Consistency will sharpen your skills. - Embrace Failure. 🫂 Don’t be afraid of the outcome. Great things come from making mistakes. I meant what I wrote at the beginning, showing up for your art and discipline will help you get into the creative rhythm. Trust the process, sit back and enjoy the ride! 😄 FATFISH #creativeprocess #artisttips #fulltimeartist #eventdesigner

It was 110° when we opened doors and we had to make a last minute Lowe’s run to pick up additional air conditioners to keep our consoles from dying - but it was an amazing show with an incredible crew! Great job producing this show Benjamin Bielefeld!

I'm still getting confetti out of my shoes. June has wrapped up, and we've crowned our new Miss Utah! Working with The Miss Utah Organization each year is such a blast, and this event is no exception. It's an amazing week celebrating the incredible women from all over our state. Huge thanks to Arianna Hansen and Madison Wilson for trusting me and FATFISH to bring this dazzling spectacle to life!

Lead times to plan events are getting out of control. Can you plan an event in 1/3 of the time needed? I’ve been keeping an eye on lead times. I received a message from someone who prefers to stay anonymous: “I’ve had multiple groups send me their RFPs for massive meetings with less than 2 months' notice. Typically, this kind of event would have 6 months to a year lead time.” I am concerned. / With costs being out of control in many markets. / With demand through the roof and many venues booked 3/4 years out. / With teams being downsized and overworked. —————————————————— How can we not lose the business while maintaining sanity? Develop a template. Templatizing events is the next big skill for the industry. Collect a set of venues, suppliers, and technology that you can roll out easily. Create a last-minute offer. When a client comes with a very late demand, there can be the opportunity to pay a premium. What is the MVP (minimum viable product) you can ship for a client? Learn to say no. Great planners and agencies know that some events will not happen. Managing expectations is an art. —————————————————— How can we sustain pulling incredible experiences with 1/3 of the time necessary? P.S. if you liked this post, tomorrow I’ll share in my free newsletter 3 top marketing trends. It’s free. https://lnkd.in/gtGXp27i

Summer is hands down my favorite season! I'm lucky to have a career at FATFISH that allows me to spend time outside, having fun in the sun. Next week we get to spend a few days at the Greater Zion Stadium in St. George. I'll let you know if we're still having fun! 😎

Catch me scootin' into Pride Month 🌈 Proud to be an ally and support Utah Pride with the Utah Pride Center! 🏳️🌈 Huge thanks to Chad Call for stepping up with less than an 8-weeks notice and turning it into an amazing event. Chad’s leadership and dedication are already making a significant impact, and this event is a perfect demonstration of his potential as a great leader for the Utah Pride Center. We were thrilled to provide lighting, sound, and band support for two entertainment stages and the crowd-favorite karaoke stage for the Pride Festival. We also provided audio support at the Pride Parade and Rally at the Utah State Capitol. It was incredible to see everyone come together, celebrate, and spread love and acceptance. hashtag #UtahPride #PrideMonth #LGBTQSupport #CommunityEvent #DiversityAndInclusion #LoveIsLove #InclusionMatters FATFISH

Small spaces, big solutions. Our team can truly transform an event with stunning graphics and our modular Aluvision NV system. It always amazes me how strategic branding can create the right ambiance. A well thought out backdrop can frame a space and a floor graphic with the right lighting will help create an impactful moment like the unveiling of the new Lamborghini Urus. Way to go FATFISH! 👏
