Patrick Mosher has spent over a decade mentoring Boilermakers in University Residences as a Faculty in Residence, Executive in Residence (EiR), and now as Purdue’s first live-in EiR. His unique journey—spanning chemical engineering, organizational communication, HR, and the arts—gives him a special ability to help students turn their Purdue experiences into powerful stories for their future. Through workshops on career success, networking, and story crafting, Patrick inspires students to embrace their passions and stand out. As one student reflected: “After Patrick’s story-crafting workshop, I realized I needed to pitch my experiences—my motivations, challenges, and how I adapted—not just my skills. That changed everything for me.” Patrick isn’t just an incredible mentor to student - he’s also an invaluable colleague and mentor to so many in University Residences. We’re proud to celebrate Patrick’s contributions, including his 2023 Student Life Impact Award, recognizing his leadership and mentorship. Thank you, Patrick, for helping Purdue students discover their voices and craft their stories! #PurdueUniversity #Leadership #StudentSuccess #Mentorship #ExecutiveInResidence

  • This past week, we had the distinct privilege of welcoming Thomas Smith, M.D. to campus, and we are incredibly grateful for the time he dedicated to connecting with our students and staff. Dr. Smith’s visit was nothing short of transformative. Through sharing his personal journey and professional experiences—both at Purdue and beyond—he left a lasting impression on all of us. His stories were not only insightful but deeply inspiring, highlighting the value of resilience, the importance of mentorship, and the impact of building meaningful connections. One of the most special moments of Dr. Smith's visit was his opportunity to reconnect with our Live-in Executive in Residence, Patrick Mosher. Dr. Smith once served as Patrick's supervisor while Patrick was an RA. Dr. Smith and Patrick were able to catch up and reminisce about their time as counselors in Cary Quad and their work within University Residences. It was heartwarming to witness the bond they shared as they reflected on their time together and the impact it had on their respective journeys. Throughout his visit, Dr. Smith went above and beyond to engage with our students in meaningful ways. He spent significant time within the residence halls, connecting with students from a variety of groups. Dr. Smith met with staff in Cary Quad, participated in the Phoenix Club Halloween event at Hillenbrand Hall, and joined the staff of McCutcheon Hall for a "Canes and Conversation" gathering. He also held one-on-one meetings with Resident Assistants considering pre-med, offering invaluable advice and mentorship. Each of these moments allowed him to engage in genuine, impactful conversations with students, staff, and faculty, all centered around leadership, personal growth, and the challenges of balancing academics and life. Dr. Smith’s visit was not just a lecture or a talk—it was an experience that sparked important discussions about the qualities of strong leaders and the importance of perseverance and community in higher education. His authenticity and openness created a space where students and staff alike could reflect on their own paths, ask questions, and learn from his experiences. We are deeply grateful for the lasting impact Dr. Smith has had on our community, and we are excited to continue the conversations he sparked during his time with us. Thank you once again, Dr. Smith, for your generosity in sharing your time, wisdom, and experiences. We hope to have the privilege of welcoming you back to campus soon! #Leadership #Purdue #HigherEducation #Gratitude #Inspiration #Community #Mentorship
