We have some ‘electrifying’ news to share with all of you! It is with great pride that we announce that #EmeraldPackaging's finishing building is now 100% powered by Solar Powered Clean Energy. Our cutting-edge solar initiative features two advanced systems: one with a capacity of 125 kW and another at an impressive 1 MW. These systems are now fully operational, powering the entire shipping office, converting offices, and the converting area. There’s no way to avoid the human dimension, the travails, worries, hopes and pains that people bring to work each day. In fact, only by embracing people where they are will you ever forge the community needed to build a successful company. This isn’t psycho-babble, it’s my learned experience after 25 years as CEO of Emerald Packaging, Inc Inc. Leadership beckons us out of ourselves in wholly unique and unexpected ways, and inevitably leads to stewardship, if properly embraced. I know my team from Diana Gonzalez, PHR to Rolando Monserrat to Todd Somers and Pallavi J live this daily. Our people are the better for it, and the company thriving and financially successful as well. Hope you enjoy.

Plastics News published an op-ed this week I wrote about adopting post-consumer recyled resin as a path to sustainable packaging, and what we did with a customer to roll it out across their product line. But it’s also a plea. Everyone seems to want sustainability but for free. That model doesn’t work. It won’t come for free, it won’t produce immediate economic growth (the opposite it appears) but we have no choice. Bag bans will multiply unless we move. The grocers bear some responsibility fighting for zero cost increases. I can’t replicate this experiment across all of my accounts, but where I can I will.
