“Often our models of discipleship in America have absolutely nothing to do with the mystery of Christ and partnering with God in establishing his eternal purpose on earth. Our discipleship tends to be primarily about personal holiness through spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines and personal holiness are wonderful things; however, God the Holy Spirit longs to conform us to the image of Jesus so we can reveal the mystery of Christ as a sign of God’s faithfulness.” - Derwin Grey in High Definition Leader Read the full essay here: https://lnkd.in/g2xcgJAD

About us
Equipping Christians to talk race, build church unity and put things right in our communities. We have a small group experience, that we are willing to share. We have a Facebook page where like minded people can share their successes and challenges: https://www.facebook.com/groups/embracingunity And we have an online academy where individuals can work through material we've organized into modules that introduce you to God's plan for racial reconciliation. While this material is best consumed by proceeding through the organized modules, individual essays and videos can be shared on social media.

Many Christians fail to understand that racial reconciliation is actually part of the Gospel demand. It is not an implication of the Gospel; it is part of the Gospel. Read the full essay here: https://lnkd.in/gkW-KZ2v

Why do I talk so much about race? Because the Bible does. And talking about complex issues of race can lead to greater racial unity within the body of Christ and a more effective witness in our communities. A black Jesus would understand and address racial oppression, lament with those that suffer, and acknowledge the existence of structural racism. On the other hand, a white Jesus preaches triumphalism, individualism and antistructuralism, ignoring the importance of justice. It’s no surprise that white churches lose white congregants when black Christians start attending, and bringing in a black senior pastor only exacerbates the problem. To avoid white flight, multiethnic churches often prioritize the comfort of their white congregants over engaging difficult topics. But is that really what the Biblical Jesus would do? This essay digs deeper into this important topic: https://lnkd.in/g6s_yK-m
