Fourteen trillion dollars. That's the cost of bias in our economy over the last decade. Trillions lost to racism, sexism, and homophobia. Imagine the wealth we could build by including Black and brown ideas, funding them, and giving them leadership roles. It’s about more than closing the wealth gap—it’s about recognizing the undeniable value we bring to the table. Tune into Good Trouble, Embrace Boston's podcast, where Malia Lazu dives deep into the economic case for inclusion and the transformative power of Black and brown innovation. Produced in partnership with NBC 10 Boston, now streaming on YouTube

Today, we pause to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Nikki Giovanni, a towering figure in literature and activism, who has passed away at the age of 81. A prolific poet, professor, and voice of the Black Arts Movement, Dr. Giovanni’s work gave profound insight into the intersections of race, gender, and justice. Her words, captured in over two dozen collections, children’s books, and essays, inspired generations to see the world through a lens of wit, courage, and unyielding truth. Dr. Giovanni’s remarkable life included an Emmy for Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project and deep connections with Civil Rights icons like Rosa Parks and James Baldwin. As we mourn her passing, we remain grateful for her words and wisdom, which will guide us for generations to come. Thank you, for giving us your light. As she wrote, “I hope I die warmed by the life that I tried to live.” Dr. Giovanni, your warmth will forever be felt. Rest in power.
