Happy Thanksgiving, America. At Ellis Porter, we are thankful for our Porters and the privilege of being able to do meaningful work that positively impacts the immigrant clients and communities we serve. As we enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with our families and friends today, we're also thankful for all of America's farmers and agricultural workers whose hard work puts food on our tables. And let's not forget that according to the most recent National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS), approximately 68% of farmworkers in the United States are immigrants, an estimated 44% of whom are undocumented and lack work authorization. All Americans should be grateful for the work they do, sometimes in the shadows, to feed our families. Instead of talking about mass deportations, let's reframe our national conversation and focus on finding practical, humane solutions to allow hard working, upstanding immigrants a legal path to stay in the US so they can continue contributing to America in ways that are good for our economy and consistent with our welcoming legacy as Americans. EP's Brazilian ambassadors finished up their East Coast speaking tour visiting with the inspiring Brazilian researchers of PUB Boston, a Research, Innovation, and Education Hub for Brazilians in the Boston region. EP Partners Jonathan (John) Goslow and Allyn Sinicropi (accompanied by Senior Case Manager Juliana Paganella) shared valuable information and insights to help these researchers successfully navigate US high-skilled immigration categories, including O-1 Extraordinary Ability work visas, National Interest Waiver (NIW) green cards, EB-1A Extraordinary Ability green cards, and EB-1B outstanding researcher green cards. At Ellis Porter, an important part of our mission is educating our clients and others about important immigration topics whenever we get the chance. Last week, EP Partner Anthony Mosko was invited to speak about "employment-based immigration law in everyday situations" to a group of fellow attorneys at the Joint Annual Program and Section Annual Meetings in Lansing. The session was presented as a collaboration of the Criminal, Immigration, LGBTQ+, and Litigation Sections of the State Bar of Michigan. In his talk, Anthony helped attendees better understand the legal and practical nuances involved with assessing employer visa sponsorship needs and executing successful work visa application strategies. #workvisas #employmentbasedimmigration

EP in the Big 🍎! Last night in NYC, EP Attorneys Jonathan (John) Goslow and Allyn Sinicropi and Sr. Case Manager Juliana Paganella shared information about high-skilled immigration options with a group of talented Brazilian researchers who are members of PUB NY, a Research, Innovation, and Education Hub for Brazilians in the New York and New Jersey Region. The program also included an inspirational talk from a Brazilian astronaut! Our EP ambassadors to Brazil are now heading to Boston for a similar presentation to the members of PUB Boston this evening. #highskilledimmigration #brazil

This past weekend, some of our Porters had the privilege of cheering on a group of inspirational young all-stars from the Miracle League of Plymouth. It was a special game where the joy is contagious and everyone wins, volunteers included. We tip our cap to these young athletes! The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America's favorite pastime. But it's more than playing a game. Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem, and being treated just like other kids! There are Miracle League fields across the US, and they're always seeking volunteers. We highly recommend giving some of your time to support these amazing children - it's time at the ballpark that you'll never forget!
